📋 Description

• As a Quality Assurance Engineer for MVNO Systems at Airalo, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the global eSIM connectivity platform that serves over 20 million travellers across 200+ countries and regions. Your work directly impacts the seamless experience of users purchasing and activating eSIM plans, making international travel more accessible and stress-free.
• You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) systems, including API integrations, network provisioning workflows, SIM lifecycle management, and real-time usage monitoring systems. This involves creating automated test suites using industry-standard tools, performing regression, functional, load, and security testing, and validating end-to-end user journeys from plan purchase to network activation.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, and network operations teams to understand feature requirements, identify test scenarios early in the development cycle, and advocate for quality throughout the software lifecycle. You will maintain and enhance test environments that simulate real-world carrier behaviors across multiple geographies and network conditions.
• You will implement and improve CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests, analyzing test results, and providing actionable feedback to development teams. This includes setting up monitoring and alerting for test failures, tracking defect trends, and contributing to continuous improvement of testing practices and quality gates.
• A key part of your role will involve reverse-engineering complex network behaviors and edge cases based on product requirements, simulating roaming scenarios, SMS/OTP delivery mechanisms, and data throttling policies to ensure robust system behavior under diverse telecom conditions.
• You will document test plans, test cases, and results with clarity and precision, contributing to knowledge sharing across the fully remote Networks team. Participation in blameless post-mortems and process refinement sessions will help elevate the team’s overall engineering maturity.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as a QA Engineer, Software Test Engineer, or similar role in telecommunications, MVNO, mobile networking, or SaaS environments
• Strong proficiency in designing and executing automated tests using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or equivalent frameworks
• Solid understanding of mobile network technologies (GSM, LTE, 5G), SIM provisioning, OTA updates, APN configuration, and roaming protocols
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and integrating automated testing into DevOps workflows
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems, scripting (Python, Bash, or similar), and API testing (REST/JSON, SOAP)
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, intermittent issues across distributed systems
