📋 Description

• As a Quality Assurance Engineer on Airalo’s Roaming team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the global eSIM connectivity platform that serves over 20 million travelers across 200+ countries and regions. Your work directly impacts the seamless travel experience by validating that network services function flawlessly from purchase to activation abroad, helping Airalo maintain its position as the world’s first and largest eSIM store.
• You will design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans for mobile network integrations, eSIM provisioning flows, and backend systems, focusing on edge cases in international roaming scenarios across diverse carrier networks and device ecosystems.
• You will collaborate closely with software engineers, network specialists, and product teams to identify defects early in the development lifecycle, using both manual and automated testing techniques to validate functionality, latency, and failover behavior under real-world conditions.
• You will develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Postman, or similar) to test API endpoints, SIM activation workflows, and device compatibility across iOS and Android platforms.
• You will monitor and analyze network performance metrics, log data, and user-reported issues to detect anomalies, regressions, or degradation in service quality, contributing to continuous improvement of the roaming infrastructure.
• You will participate in incident response and post-mortem analyses, helping to root-cause connectivity issues and implement preventive measures to enhance system resilience and uptime.
• You will contribute to the evolution of QA processes by advocating for testability, shift-left testing, and observability best practices within a fully remote, high-velocity engineering culture.
• You will stay current with emerging mobile technologies (e.g., 5G, eSIM standards, GSMA specifications) and evaluate their implications for testing strategy and tooling.
• You will work within Airalo’s Networks team, a fully remote, globally distributed group of engineers passionate about solving complex connectivity challenges at scale, where ownership, curiosity, and customer impact are core values.
• You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise in telecommunications testing, global network systems, and cloud-native validation practices while contributing to a product used by millions of travelers worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as a QA Engineer, Software Test Engineer, or similar role in telecommunications, mobile applications, or SaaS platforms, with hands-on testing of mobile networks, APIs, or device firmware.
• Strong understanding of mobile networking concepts including SIM provisioning, eSIM standards (GSMA SGP.21/22), APN configuration, roaming agreements, and carrier network behaviors.
• Proficiency in designing and executing test cases, defect tracking, and test reporting using tools like Jira, TestRail, or equivalent.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or Java) for API, UI, or mobile app testing.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, command-line tools, and network debugging utilities (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark, adb, or similar).
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to reproduce complex, intermittent issues across diverse device and network configurations.
