• • Bestow Inc. is seeking a visionary and hands-on Quality Engineering Manager to spearhead the evolution of our software quality and test automation practices. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on building scalable quality systems and fostering a culture of engineering excellence across the organization. You will be instrumental in transforming our Quality Engineering function into a robust Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) discipline, where engineers are empowered to write production-grade code and engineer comprehensive quality solutions. This role transcends traditional test automation management, demanding a deep technical understanding and a strategic approach to embedding quality throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• • As the Manager of Quality Engineering, you will serve as a critical bridge between software engineering and quality engineering, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to elevate software craftsperson-ship, refine test strategies and designs, architect robust automation solutions, enhance reporting intelligence, and ultimately improve overall engineering delivery. Your primary objective will be to build foundational quality capabilities, enhance system-wide testability, improve the integrity of quality signals, and empower the entire organization to deliver software with unwavering confidence.
• • You will be responsible for shaping the systems, processes, and analytics that transform mature quality practices and automation into sustained release confidence, thereby creating a measurable competitive advantage for Bestow. This involves defining and executing a Quality Engineering transformation roadmap grounded in modern SDET principles, and spearheading the development of scalable test orchestration platforms capable of managing complex, interdependent validation workflows across distributed systems.
• • A key aspect of this role involves empowering your team to design, deliver, and maintain reusable test frameworks, harnesses, and shared quality infrastructure. You will also influence application development and platform architecture to enhance testability, observability, isolation, and fault diagnosis. Driving the institutionalization of risk-based testing and coverage strategies aligned with business-critical workflows will be paramount. Furthermore, you will design Quality Engineering practices that actively reduce developer cognitive load, formalize requirements clarity through mechanisms like Definition of Ready and Spec Driven Development, and strengthen testability at its source. Your leadership will drive programs that materially increase release confidence and foster organizational trust.
• • You will establish engineering excellence across all layers of validation, including unit, component, integration, API, system, and end-to-end testing. This extends to non-functional disciplines such as performance, reliability, security, accessibility, and usability. Architecting fast, deterministic feedback loops through parallelizable test design, intelligent test selection, test gap analysis, and impact-based test execution strategies is crucial. You will optimize CI/CD automation workflows and automated quality gates to ensure high signal quality, minimize cognitive overhead, and preserve developer flow, leading to measurable reductions in Change Failure Rate, Defect Escape Rate, and production incidents.
• • Elevating test reporting from static output to actionable decision infrastructure is a core responsibility. You will champion enterprise-grade test reporting and analytics systems, transforming large-scale test execution data into decision-grade quality intelligence. This includes implementing sophisticated flakiness detection, failure clustering, historical trend modeling, and AI-assisted triage. Your efforts will improve the CI/CD signal-to-noise ratio, eliminate false confidence, and establish trusted release dashboards for Engineering and Product leadership. Crucially, you will align quality metrics with measurable business outcomes like CFR, MTTR, defect escape rate, and release stability.
• • Embracing AI-Enabled Quality Engineering, you will integrate AI-assisted tooling into requirements, specifications, test generation, maintenance, failure analysis, and reporting workflows. You will leverage analytics and predictive insights to continuously refine coverage strategies and establish guardrails for responsible and secure AI adoption. Exploring intelligent failure clustering and anomaly detection to reduce manual triage effort will be a key initiative. This forward-thinking approach ensures Bestow remains at the forefront of quality engineering innovation.
• • On the organizational front, you will recruit, coach, and retain high-performing hybrid developer-test engineers, developing career pathways that attract strong application engineers into quality engineering roles. You will lead and grow a team of SDETs, continuously raising technical standards, engineering rigor, and craftsperson-ship expectations. Managing initiatives from inception through long-term sustainment, institutionalizing third-party tools where appropriate while maintaining engineering ownership of quality systems, and partnering across Engineering, Product, Platform, Security, and Customer-facing teams to embed quality upstream and enable engineering excellence are all vital components of this role. You will be expected to break complex problems into fundamental truths, act decisively, and promote intellectual rigor, ownership, inclusivity, and long-term systems thinking. Aligning Quality Engineering practices with core Developer Experience (DevEx) tenets—reducing cognitive load, improving feedback loops, and enabling sustained focus and engineering flow—will be a guiding principle.
