  • • Lead and develop a high-performing Recruiting Operations team, setting clear expectations, building strong judgment, and supporting team members’ career growth.
  • • Own and improve the operational systems and workflows that underpin recruiting at OpenAI, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, efficient, and auditable as the company grows globally.
  • • Design, implement, and continuously optimize automations across recruiting workflows, including approvals, data quality checks, reporting processes, and systems handoffs to eliminate manual work.
  • • Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone tasks in recruiting operations and convert them into streamlined, governed, and scalable processes.
  • • Partner with Recruiting, People Systems, Analytics, Finance, Legal, and IT teams to prioritize, design, and deliver tooling improvements, workflow redesigns, and operational enhancements.
  • • Support the evolution of the recruiting technology stack by defining requirements, evaluating third-party solutions, improving system integrations, and driving adoption of new tools and processes.
  • • Use metrics, service levels, and operational reviews to monitor process health, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement in recruiting performance and system effectiveness.
  • • Maintain high standards for data accuracy, systems hygiene, documentation, and process discipline across all recruiting operations functions.
  • • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex operational issues, applying structured problem-solving and sound judgment to resolve root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • • Contribute to an AI-enabled roadmap for recruiting operations, focusing on practical automation, usability, governance, and measurable impact on hiring speed and quality.
  • • Translate business needs into durable operational solutions that balance speed with rigor, ensuring operational quality functions as a trust engine for hiring at scale.
  • • Maintain deep familiarity with recruiting systems such as Ashby, Workday, Guide, or similar platforms to evaluate, configure, and optimize their use across global operations.
  • • Apply systems thinking to design workflows that can scale across diverse geographies and hiring needs while maintaining compliance, consistency, and fairness.
  • • Champion operational discipline by establishing clear documentation standards, accountability frameworks, and performance indicators for all recruiting processes.
  • • Actively seek opportunities to reduce administrative burden on recruiters through smarter tooling, automation, and process simplification without compromising rigor or candidate experience.
  • • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align recruiting operations with broader organizational goals in People, Engineering, Finance, and Legal.
  • • Monitor external trends in talent operations and AI-enabled HR tools to evaluate innovations that could enhance OpenAI’s recruiting infrastructure.
  • • Ensure recruiting operations comply with applicable employment laws and local regulations, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and California Fair Chance Act.
  • • Maintain strict confidentiality and security protocols when handling sensitive candidate and personnel data in alignment with OpenAI’s global privacy policy.
  • • Participate in defining and tracking key operational KPIs such as time-to-hire, offer acceptance rate, candidate satisfaction, and system uptime to inform strategic decisions.
  • • Communicate operational changes clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring smooth adoption and minimizing disruption during transitions.
