  • • The Registered Nurse in the Transfer Center plays a critical role in facilitating patient flow and coordination across Denver Health’s integrated health system, ensuring timely and appropriate transfers for elective, urgent, and emergent cases while supporting mission-driven care delivery.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include triaging patient transfers from external facilities, coordinating MD-to-MD consults, managing bed assignments via patient tracking systems, arranging transportation, facilitating RN-to-RN reports, and providing telephonic case management for Managed Care Organization members, including utilization management and admission order processing.
  • • The Transfer Center operates as a vital hub within Denver Health, an integrated academic health care system and Colorado’s primary safety-net provider, which includes a Level I Trauma Center, 555-bed acute care hospital, emergency medical services, and numerous community health centers dedicated to serving underserved populations.
  • • In this role, the nurse will develop advanced clinical judgment in patient assessment and resource coordination, gain expertise in healthcare systems navigation, EMTALA compliance, and insurance vetting, while strengthening communication, leadership, and crisis management skills essential for high-acuity care environments.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
  • • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • • 1–3 years of recent trauma and/or emergency care experience
  • • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a program approved by the Colorado State Board of Nursing
  • • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems, multi-line phone systems, and patient tracking platforms
  • • Bilingual language skills preferred
