As a fully remote company with a global presence, we embrace diversity and welcome talent from over 70 countries, speaking more than 50 languages.
  • • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulatory MiFID Officer to join our growing Compliance team, specifically supporting our CySEC-regulated investment firm in Cyprus. This role is crucial for ensuring our European MiFID II operations adhere to the highest regulatory standards and enable continued innovation within the crypto space.
  • • Reporting to the Cyprus Compliance leadership and collaborating closely with the Global Compliance team, as well as key internal stakeholders across Operations, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Risk, you will be instrumental in maintaining robust regulatory practices and upholding industry-leading standards.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to ensure Kraken's ongoing compliance with the CySEC regulatory framework, with a particular focus on MiFID II and AML requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to broader EU regulations, directives, and ESMA guidelines, playing a pivotal role in the company's commitment to regulatory excellence.
  • • Key responsibilities include:

  • • Performing ongoing monitoring of client transactions, conducting rigorous KYC/AML reviews, and ensuring the timely reporting of any suspicious activities (SARs) in accordance with regulatory obligations.
  • • Developing and delivering engaging compliance training programs and providing ongoing guidance to staff across all departments to foster a strong culture of compliance.
  • • Contributing significantly to the firm's compliance monitoring program, including assisting in detailed regulatory gap analyses to identify and address any discrepancies.
  • • Maintaining an in-depth understanding of complex compliance risks and issues, identifying the root causes of operational inefficiencies, and developing strategic process improvements to streamline operations team processes.
  • • Reviewing marketing communications to ensure alignment with MiFID II marketing guidelines and advising stakeholders on compliance requirements.
  • • Evaluating professional client applications in strict accordance with MiFID II standards and internal policies.
  • • Staying continuously updated on industry best practices and evolving CySEC and EU regulatory developments, assessing their potential application with a global perspective where necessary.
  • • Undertaking any other duties as assigned by direct management or senior leadership, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the compliance function within a leading global crypto firm, contributing directly to our mission of making crypto accessible and secure for everyone.
