Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full underwriting lifecycle for flood insurance policies across Florida, from initial submission through final binding, ensuring every risk aligns with company guidelines and CRC procedures while delivering rapid, accurate decisions that keep agents and policyholders confident in our service.
- • Act as the primary risk gatekeeper, leveraging sophisticated modeling outputs, third-party flood-zone data, NFIP maps, and proprietary analytics to price exposures correctly, structure appropriate deductibles, and recommend mitigation credits that protect both the carrier’s portfolio and the insured’s balance sheet.
- • Cultivate and deepen relationships with a diverse network of retail agents, MGAs, and carrier partners across the state; serve as the trusted technical expert who can translate complex hydrology and actuarial concepts into plain language that empowers producers to win and retain business.
- • Lead a remote production underwriting team—coaching junior underwriters on authority levels, file documentation standards, and negotiation tactics—while personally handling the largest or most complex accounts that require seasoned judgment and creative solutions.
- • Drive profitable growth by marketing CRC Group’s full suite of flood, excess flood, and parametric products to existing and prospective distribution partners; identify cross-sell opportunities on commercial multi-line accounts and design custom manuscript forms when standard ISO language falls short.
- • Monitor real-time dashboards that track hit ratios, renewal retention, average premium per policy, and geographic spread of risk; proactively intervene when metrics drift outside tolerance bands and present corrective action plans to senior leadership.
- • Review post-bind inspections, loss control surveys, and claims histories to verify that actual conditions match representations at application; initiate mid-term endorsements, cancellations, or surcharges when discrepancies threaten portfolio integrity.
- • Proof and quality-check every policy, endorsement, audit, and cancellation for accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance; maintain a 98 % first-time-right rate and pass all internal, external, and carrier audits without findings.
- • Maintain active Florida surplus lines and NFIP flood certifications, complete required continuing education on schedule, and mentor teammates through new FEMA rule changes or state legislative updates that impact rating or coverage grants.
- • Travel strategically—whether to Tallahassee for legislative briefings, Miami for agent roundtables, or hurricane-stricken counties for onsite risk assessments—balancing face-to-face relationship building with the flexibility of a remote-first work environment.
- • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by documenting best practices, automating repetitive tasks within Delphi, DocuCorp, and ISO Rating platforms, and sharing actionable insights that elevate the entire underwriting organization.
- • Collaborate closely with actuarial, claims, legal, and catastrophe modeling teams to refine appetite statements, update rating algorithms, and develop new products that address emerging flood exposures such as inland flooding, basement backup, and business interruption.
- • Provide white-glove service during CAT events—mobilizing triage teams, expediting temporary living expense endorsements, and communicating transparently with agents so that policyholders receive funds when they need them most.
