This position is integral to our Research & Development team, operating with flexibility and remotely across the globe, reporting directly to the Head of R&D. The Research Engineer is the linchpin that transforms cutting-edge theoretical concepts into tangible, testable systems, enabling rapid experimentation, robust prototyping, and rigorous system validation. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between abstract ideas and real-world application, ensuring our decision concepts can be thoroughly tested under authentic operational constraints.
• • The core mandate of the Research Engineer is to operationalize research velocity. This involves a multifaceted approach to building and maintaining the technical scaffolding that supports our ambitious research initiatives. You will be accountable for constructing sophisticated research prototypes and isolated sandbox environments where new ideas can be explored without impacting production systems. A significant part of your role will involve developing sophisticated evaluation tooling specifically designed for decision systems, allowing us to objectively measure performance and identify areas for improvement. Furthermore, you will be responsible for implementing robust experimental system architectures that facilitate seamless data flow and processing, enabling fast and efficient iteration between theoretical models and practical validation. Maintaining the technical research infrastructure is also a key responsibility, ensuring that our research teams have reliable and scalable tools at their disposal.
• • In terms of key responsibilities, the role is deeply focused on **Prototype Development**. This includes the implementation of experimental decision pipelines, translating complex conceptual models into functional, runnable systems. You will build modular and testable research architectures, adhering to best software engineering practices even within a research context. This ensures that prototypes are not only functional but also maintainable and adaptable for future iterations.
• • Another critical area is **Research Tooling & Infrastructure**. Here, you will create comprehensive evaluation frameworks to assess the outputs of our reasoning systems, providing quantitative and qualitative insights. Building simulation environments for controlled testing will allow us to isolate variables and understand system behavior under specific conditions. You will also develop benchmarking systems to objectively measure the performance of decision-making algorithms and architectures, providing a clear baseline for progress.
• • **Experiment Enablement** is paramount. This involves implementing sophisticated A/B testing logic and structured experiment tracking mechanisms to ensure that every test is well-defined and its results are meticulously recorded.
