  • • As a Safety Policy Manager in Global Affairs at OpenAI, you will play a central role in developing proactive policy positions focused on AI safety, working closely with regional teams to analyze legislative and regulatory proposals and translate technical safeguards into policy-relevant insights.
  • • Day to day, you will identify, track, and analyze emerging global legislative and regulatory trends, synthesize regional insights, develop policy positions informed by technical expertise, coordinate cross-functional policy campaigns, and collaborate with legal, product, research, and safety systems teams to ensure technical perspectives shape advocacy efforts.
  • • You will join OpenAI’s Global Affairs team, which builds authentic relationships with policymakers worldwide to ensure AI development is guided by inclusive, safety-conscious regulation and industry standards that benefit all of humanity.
  • • In this role, you will deepen your expertise at the intersection of AI safety, technology policy, and global governance, drive impactful policy initiatives such as white papers and coalition engagement, and grow your ability to bridge technical and policy audiences in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Experience working at the intersection of technology, policy, and politics with a focus on AI safety
  • • Understanding of AI safety issues including frontier risks (cyber, CBRN, alignment) and consumer safety concerns (algorithmic discrimination, fraud, high-risk domains)
  • • Experience working on technology policy in government or private sector policy/legal teams
  • • Demonstrated ability to analyze and engage on complex regulatory and legislative proposals, including drafting positions and supporting negotiations
  • • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience briefing senior officials and translating technical concepts for policy audiences
  • • Ability to execute in fast-paced, flexible environments through rapid cycles of analysis, decision, and action
