  • • Material Security Inc. is seeking a driven and ambitious Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our dynamic, rapidly expanding commercial sales team. As a foundational member of our go-to-market strategy, you will be at the forefront of generating new business opportunities and shaping the initial perception of Material Security for prospective clients. This role is pivotal to our company's growth trajectory, offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the fast-paced world of cybersecurity sales.
  • • In this critical role, you will be responsible for building and nurturing a robust sales pipeline by proactively identifying and engaging with key decision-makers and influencers within target organizations. Your primary objective will be to secure introductory meetings and uncover net-new opportunities, laying the groundwork for our Account Executives to close deals. This requires a strategic and persistent approach to outbound prospecting, involving meticulous research into target accounts, understanding their unique challenges, and identifying the right personas to engage.
  • • You will own a defined list of strategic accounts, developing and executing creative, multi-touch outbound campaigns across various channels, including phone, email, and social media. This hands-on approach allows you to experiment with different messaging, sequences, and communication strategies, continuously refining your tactics based on performance data and feedback. The ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with technical buyers and address their specific security concerns will be paramount to your success.
  • • Collaboration is key to this role. You will work in close partnership with our experienced Account Executives, contributing to the development of comprehensive territory plans designed to maximize pipeline generation. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with the Marketing team to align outbound efforts with broader campaign initiatives and ensure a cohesive brand message. This cross-functional synergy extends to the entire Go-To-Market (GTM) team, fostering an environment where collective success is prioritized.
  • • A significant aspect of the SDR role involves continuous learning and adaptation. You will be encouraged to test and refine your outbound messaging, sequences, and talk tracks, actively sharing insights and best practices with the team. This iterative process of experimentation and learning is crucial for staying ahead in the competitive cybersecurity landscape. You will gain a deep understanding of how security buyers think, the challenges they face, and the value propositions that resonate most effectively.
  • • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date data within our CRM system (Hubspot) is essential for tracking progress, analyzing performance, and ensuring seamless handoffs between sales stages. This meticulous record-keeping contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the sales organization.
  • • This position offers a unique platform for professional growth. You will gain hands-on experience in all facets of the sales development process, building a strong foundation of skills and knowledge. For ambitious individuals, this role serves as a direct pathway to future Account Executive positions, providing the necessary training, mentorship, and experience to advance your career within Material Security.
  • • The hybrid work model offers flexibility, with a requirement to work from our San Francisco office at least two weekdays per week, allowing for in-person collaboration and team building, while the remaining days can be worked remotely. This structure balances the benefits of in-office synergy with the convenience of remote work.
  • • We are looking for individuals who are passionate about technology, particularly in the realm of software sales and modern security products. An innate curiosity about how these solutions work and the problems they solve is highly valued. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating hunger, ambition, and an eagerness to contribute to building something significant. Comfort with cold outreach, including making phone calls, sending cold emails, and experimenting with innovative outbound campaigns, is a prerequisite.
  • • A self-starter mentality, coupled with a strong sense of urgency and accountability for achieving quota and driving outcomes, is essential. You must be resilient and competitive, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and remaining unfazed by rejection. A genuine desire to improve your skills and performance daily is key. As a team player, you should be approachable, willing to share your successes and challenges, and readily offer or seek assistance from teammates. A collaborative and coachable attitude, characterized by an active pursuit of feedback and a willingness to adapt your approach, will ensure continuous development and better results.
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical for crafting persuasive messaging tailored to diverse personas and target accounts. Excellent time management and prioritization abilities are necessary to effectively manage accounts, sequences, and follow-ups. The capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, and the GTM team is also vital. Familiarity with sales and/or marketing tools such as Hubspot, CommonRoom, Nooks, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Phantombuster is a significant advantage.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 6+ months of experience in an outbound Sales Development Representative (SDR) or Business Development Representative (BDR) role, or closely related work experience.
  • • Proven ability to research target accounts, identify key stakeholders, and execute multi-touch outbound prospecting campaigns across phone, email, and social channels.
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and tailored messaging.
  • • Experience with CRM software (e.g., Hubspot) and sales engagement tools (e.g., ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator).
  • • A proactive, self-starter mindset with a strong sense of urgency, resilience, and a desire to achieve quota in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • • Passion for technology and software sales, with a curiosity about modern security products.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and OTE (On-Target Earnings) of $100,000 - $110,000.
  • • Hybrid work model with flexibility, combining in-office collaboration in San Francisco with remote work.
  • • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-growth cybersecurity startup.
  • • Clear career progression path with potential to advance into Account Executive roles.
  • • Collaborative and supportive team environment with a focus on continuous learning and development.
  • • Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
