- • Scientific Writer/Editor - ON-CALL role supports high-visibility federal health communications initiatives by developing, editing, and maintaining evidence-based health content for public and professional audiences, translating complex scientific information into clear, accessible formats aligned with federal plain language and health literacy standards.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include researching, writing, editing, and updating health-related content for web and print; translating complex medical and scientific information into plain language; developing and editing fact sheets and educational materials based on scientific evidence; ensuring alignment with federal plain language and accessibility guidelines; collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders; performing quality control reviews for accuracy and consistency; supporting web content updates using CMS; applying web-writing best practices including SEO and scannability; supporting recurring content review cycles; and developing meeting summaries and synthesis documents as needed.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
- • At least 3 years of experience writing and editing medical or scientific content
- • Experience writing for public and/or professional audiences
- • Strong understanding of plain language and health literacy principles
- • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- • Ability to synthesize complex scientific material
- • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
