Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As an SDET / QA Lead at Saris AI Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the quality culture of a fast-growing applied AI startup tackling high-stakes automation challenges in the banking industry. This role is critical because quality is not an afterthought but a foundational element built into AI-powered systems from day one, ensuring reliability in complex, compliance-sensitive workflows that power real customer outcomes.
- • You will own end-to-end quality strategy and execution across product, infrastructure, and AI workflows, designing and implementing automated testing frameworks from UI to APIs and backend systems while integrating them into CI/CD pipelines. You will lead and grow the QA function by mentoring engineers, setting quality standards, and collaborating with product, engineering, and ML teams to focus testing on high-impact areas — including LLM and agent-based workflows — to ensure accuracy, consistency, and protection against regressions in production environments.
- • Saris AI is a San Francisco and Montreal-based applied AI startup backed by Tier 1 Silicon Valley VCs, founded by repeat YC founders with a successful exit (Ready Education). The company is deploying production AI agents that handle real customer workflows in banking, generating revenue and scaling rapidly, offering a unique opportunity to build quality systems at the forefront of agentic AI innovation.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in testing AI/ML systems, distributed architectures, and modern CI/CD practices while developing leadership skills by mentoring engineers and influencing quality culture across the organization. You will have the opportunity to define how quality is measured and maintained in cutting-edge AI systems, leaving a lasting impact on both product reliability and team excellence.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to write production-quality code in Python and/or TypeScript.
- • Proven experience building or significantly improving automated testing systems, including frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, pytest, or Jest, with deep integration into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- • Experience testing complex systems such as APIs, microservices, async workflows, and distributed systems, with a focus on identifying real risk rather than merely increasing test coverage.
- • Leadership or mentoring experience, with a passion for raising quality standards across teams and fostering a culture of ownership.
- • Familiarity with AI or LLM-based systems, either as tools in your workflow or as systems to test, including understanding challenges around accuracy, consistency, and regression in agentic workflows.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation package with premium benefits and equity participation in a high-growth AI startup.
- • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technology solving trillion-dollar industry problems in banking with real production impact.
- • Collaborate with a stellar team of engineers and leaders, including repeat YC founders and Tier 1 VC-backed experts, in a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
