- • The SEC Reporting Manager at Backblaze Inc. is a critical role responsible for leading external financial reporting and supporting complex technical accounting matters to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant SEC filings in a fast-paced public company environment.
- • Day to day, the role involves owning the preparation and filing of SEC reports (Form 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, proxy filings), coordinating reviews with auditors and legal counsel, managing financial statement preparation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flows, EPS, share-based compensation), authoring technical accounting policies, researching complex transactions, monitoring new accounting standards, preparing fluctuation analyses, leading journal entries, overseeing equity accounting and administration, collaborating with Investor Relations on earnings releases and calls, and supporting external and internal audits.

- • In this role, the person will deepen expertise in SEC reporting and technical accounting, gain experience in a high-growth public company, lead cross-functional initiatives with IR, legal, and audit teams, build scalable reporting processes, and contribute to financial integrity and compliance in a mission-driven, inclusive culture that values diversity, equity, and belonging.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field
- • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a focus on SEC reporting, technical accounting, and external audits
- • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience preparing or reviewing complex financial statements
- • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on detail and accuracy
- • Ability to prioritize, solve complex issues, and drive continuous improvements in reporting processes
- • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to effectively collaborate across departments
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with financial systems such as NetSuite and Equity Edge Online
- • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and deadlines
