Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Set the technical security architecture roadmap for the Platform Team, including threat modeling, control frameworks, and key initiatives such as data classification, secrets management, IAM hardening, and supply chain security.
- • Own and drive down residual risk by maintaining a prioritized risk list, sequencing mitigation work, and reporting progress to leadership on a monthly basis.
- • Lead and manage a team of security engineers, GRC engineers, and IT staff through 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development, with heavy technical leadership responsibilities.
- • Serve as the primary security partner for Engineering and Product teams on new initiatives, including AI tooling and enterprise-grade features, ensuring security is embedded from design through deployment.
- • Co-own audit readiness with GRC for SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and customer-specific security reviews, ensuring compliance and trust across enterprise clients.
- • Remain hands-on by shipping automation tools, hardening cloud infrastructure and application code, and proactively identifying and mitigating security threats before they escalate.
- • Establish and promote paved-road patterns and secure-by-default standards that enable the broader organization to move quickly while maintaining high security bar.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate DevSecOps practices into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring security controls are automated and scalable.
- • Apply deep expertise in AWS, IAM, Kubernetes, secrets management, vulnerability management, and threat modeling to secure a high-velocity SaaS platform.
- • Influence engineering and product teams without direct authority, driving alignment on security priorities through technical credibility and clear communication.
- • Maintain strong individual contributor experience by actively contributing to code, infrastructure, and security tooling, ensuring leadership remains grounded in technical reality.
- • Contribute to the evolution of security culture by mentoring engineers, advocating for secure practices, and embedding security into product development workflows.
- • Participate in incident response and remediation efforts, ensuring rapid containment and learning from security events to prevent recurrence.
- • Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into actionable technical controls that align with business objectives and engineering velocity.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in product, application, or cloud security at a SaaS company
- • Experience preparing for SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 audits
- • Managed or tech-led a team of 2–4 engineers (formally or as tech lead with people responsibilities)
- • Strong technical proficiency in AWS, IAM, Kubernetes, secrets management, vulnerability management, threat modeling, and DevSecOps in CI/CD
- • Exposure to backend/SRE practices using Python, Bash, and Terraform
- • Proven track record of measurably reducing org-wide security risk, not just running programs
- • Ability to influence engineering and product teams without direct authority
- • Deep individual contributor experience setting security direction for a meaningful organization
🏖️ Benefits
- • Top-of-market equity and cash compensation package
- • Self-development budget for conferences, books, or classes
- • Equipment of your choice, including meaningful home office setup
- • Opportunity to work with a globally diverse team and learn from experienced mentors and leading tech investors
