📋 Description

• As Senior Accountant at n8n GmbH, you will take full ownership of the company's end-to-end accounting operations, building a scalable, automated, and globally compliant finance foundation that directly supports the hyper-growth of one of Europe’s most promising SaaS startups. Your work will be critical in establishing n8n’s internal accounting function from the ground up, ensuring financial integrity as the company scales across international markets and entities.
• Day to day, you will lead the insourcing of accounting activities, own the full accounting cycle including AP/AR, GL, assets, accruals, and deferrals, and ensure fast, accurate monthly closes under HGB. You will prepare monthly and annual financial statements, coordinate with tax advisors on filings and audits, oversee vendor payments and bank reconciliations, manage employee reimbursements in partnership with People Ops and payroll providers, maintain cash visibility for treasury forecasting, contribute to multi-entity consolidation and reporting, develop intercompany processes including transfer pricing, manage FX accounting, coordinate VAT/GST filings across jurisdictions, support global tax registrations, maintain audit-ready compliance documentation, evaluate and implement modern accounting tools, identify automation opportunities to streamline workflows, and maintain clear finance documentation for scalability and onboarding.

• In this role, you will have the opportunity to build an AI-first accounting function from scratch, influence key financial decisions, and grow into a team lead role as n8n expands globally. You will gain deep experience in scaling finance operations in a high-growth SaaS environment, master international accounting complexities including multi-currency and intercompany transactions, and develop expertise in modern finance automation — all while working with cutting-edge tools and contributing to a company that values transparency, ownership, and continuous learning.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive Accounting Experience: You bring 7+ years in accounting, including time in a fast-paced, high-growth tech or SaaS company.
• SaaS Model Expertise: You understand recurring revenue, billing models, and revenue recognition nuances.
• German GAAP & Tax Knowledge: You have strong HGB expertise and hands-on experience preparing financial statements.
• International Accounting Exposure: You’ve worked with multi-entity structures, intercompany processes, and consolidations.
• Modern Tooling Proficiency: You’re comfortable with systems like DATEV, NetSuite, and AP/AR automation tools.
• Compliance Knowledge: You understand VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and statutory reporting.
• Analytical & Detail-Oriented: You spot issues early, communicate clearly, and deliver reliable financial outputs.
• Strong Communication Skills: You collaborate effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.
• English Fluency: You communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken.
