📋 Description

• • Own the full-cycle general ledger for a fast-growing consumer-tech company that is redefining how families play. You will be the single point of accountability for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, ensuring every journal entry, reconciliation, and flux analysis is accurate, timely, and clearly communicated to founders and investors.
• • Build and continuously improve scalable accounting processes that keep pace with Nex’s rapid product launches, global retail expansion, and subscription revenue streams. From Playground hardware sales to in-app content purchases, you will design controls and workflows that turn complex multi-channel data into clean, auditable financial statements.
• • Partner directly with Product, Operations, and FP&A to translate business initiatives into accounting implications—whether that means properly recognizing revenue for a new motion-sensing game, accounting for inventory in transit to Amazon FBA, or modeling the P&L impact of a holiday bundle promotion.
• • Lead the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and supporting footnote schedules; coordinate external audits and tax engagements with minimal disruption to daily operations. Your documentation and readiness will make year-end a non-event rather than a fire drill.
• • Drive the selection and implementation of the next-gen ERP or finance tech stack. You will map requirements, run vendor demos, manage data migration, and train a distributed team so that month-end close drops from ten days to five.
• • Establish global sales-tax, VAT, and use-tax compliance across 50+ jurisdictions where Nex Playground is sold. You will monitor nexus triggers, register where required, and file returns—or manage outsourced providers—so the company never faces penalties or surprises.
• • Produce board-ready dashboards and KPI packages that give executives real-time insight into gross-margin trends, cash-conversion cycles, and customer-lifetime value. Your analyses will directly influence pricing decisions, inventory buys, and fundraising strategy.
• • Mentor and up-skill a junior staff accountant and outsourced bookkeepers, creating clear SOPs and review checkpoints that promote autonomy and accuracy. Your leadership will create a culture where numbers are respected and everyone understands the story they tell.
• • Collaborate with Legal and People Ops to design equity-compensation accounting, international contractor payments, and royalty structures for game developers—ensuring every creative partner is paid accurately and on time.
• • Champion a remote-first, trust-based culture by documenting processes in Notion, running asynchronous stand-ups, and celebrating wins in Slack. You will model Nex’s core value of “play together” by making finance approachable, transparent, and even fun.
