📋 Description

• As the operational core of Speak AI Inc.'s Finance team in San Francisco, the Senior Accountant will own day-to-day accounting operations while driving process improvements in a high-growth, AI-native environment. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity and scalability as the company expands globally, supporting its mission to revolutionize language learning through AI-powered tutoring.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include owning P2P processes in Ramp (vendor onboarding, invoice processing, coding, and policy enforcement), managing T&E (cards, reimbursements, employee support), and overseeing contractor payments via Deel end-to-end (routing, approvals, onboarding/offboarding). The role also involves managing global creator payouts, owning key parts of the 5-business-day close in Campfire (reconciliations, variance investigation, tool-to-ERP sync), maintaining transaction integrity across the finance stack, fixing integration breaks, supporting audit requests with documentation, improving workflows through AI-native automation and tighter integrations, and assisting with ad hoc finance operations projects.

• In this role, the Senior Accountant will deepen expertise in startup finance operations, gain hands-on experience with modern fintech tools (Ramp, Deel, Campfire), and contribute to scalable financial systems in a high-growth AI company. There is significant opportunity to influence process design, lead automation initiatives, and grow into broader finance leadership as Speak scales internationally.

🎯 Requirements

• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably at a high-growth tech startup
• Experience with full-cycle P2P management and P2P/T&E tools such as Ramp, Tipalti, or similar platforms
• Strong working knowledge of ERPs, including AP module, journal entries, fixed assets, and reconciliations
• Experience with payroll software, recording payroll journal entries, and reconciling payroll-related accounts
• Solid understanding of US GAAP
• Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously without things falling through the cracks
• Sharp eye for discrepancies in AP, payroll, or expense data
• Experience preparing reconciliation schedules and flux analyses
• Ability to quickly understand workflows end-to-end and grasp how systems integrate with each other
• Nice to have: Experience working in a globally distributed team and multi-entity environment
• Nice to have: Experience with global creator payment management
• Nice to have: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
• Nice to have: Experience supporting external (Big 4) audits
