  • • Manage day-to-day accounting and financial activities for a portfolio of captive insurance companies, serving as the primary point of contact for senior management and clients.
  • • Perform comprehensive general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and preparation of customized financial and management reports for captive entities.
  • • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statement packages in accordance with GAAP, SAP, and modified GAAP, as applicable to each captive’s structure and domicile.
  • • Monitor and analyze cash flows, investment activity, and intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper financial reporting.
  • • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and ad hoc financial analyses to support client reporting and internal decision-making needs.
  • • Prepare and file regulatory submissions including premium tax returns, NAIC Blank Forms, and other domicile-specific filings for captives in onshore and offshore jurisdictions such as Vermont, Hawaii, District of Columbia, Bermuda, and Cayman Islands.
  • • Serve as the primary accounting liaison for regulatory authorities across multiple domiciles, maintaining current knowledge of evolving compliance requirements and accounting standards.
  • • Lead audit preparation activities including drafting audit schedules, reviewing financial statements, and coordinating with external auditors to secure clean audit opinions.
  • • Coordinate communication and information exchange with external service providers including actuaries, tax advisors, investment managers, bankers, and regulators.
  • • Provide advisory support on accounting developments, investment regulations, and compliance considerations impacting captive insurance programs.
  • • Act as a trusted advisor to captive clients, participating in client, shareholder, and Board of Director meetings to present financial results and explain complex accounting matters to non-technical audiences.
  • • Deliver consistent, high-quality client service to support client retention through responsiveness, accuracy, and professional communication.
  • • Utilize multiple accounting systems including Acumatica, MAS 500, BizNet, Velixo, and Wings to prepare and deliver accurate financial information.
  • • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting controls, efficiency, and data integrity while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • • Support internal initiatives related to system enhancements, documentation standardization, and process consistency across the Captive Practice.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within captive insurance, insurance, or financial services
  • • Strong knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles
  • • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and enterprise accounting systems
  • • CPA designation preferred
