📋 Description

• Senior Accountant, Investment Operations role focused on bringing key accounting and fund administration functions in-house for Backflip Holdings Inc., a venture-backed FinTech leader in residential real estate investment financing.
• Lead day-to-day accounting activities including journal entries, accruals, allocations, monthly and quarterly close activities, tracking securitization cash flows, reserves, fees, and balances, and performing reconciliations between trustee/servicer reports, LoanPro, and the general ledger.
• Prepare internal tracking and compliance schedules for asset management and securitization activities, including equity and debt balances, interest expense, issuance costs, and covenant compliance.
• Plan and implement the insourcing of processes currently handled by third-party fund administrators, such as entity bookkeeping, reconciliations, close support, reporting, and audit/tax support.
• Oversee audit, tax, and stakeholder coordination with auditors, tax preparers, trustees, and administrators while strengthening internal controls and accounting rigor as the company scales.
• Draft and maintain high-quality accounting and reporting documentation, including accounting policies, close checklists, support schedules, standardized charts of accounts, SOPs, templates, and recurring reporting schedules.
• Work closely with Head of Accounting, internal Finance and Capital Markets teams, and external partners to build repeatable processes, institutional controls, and meet critical deadlines for accurate investment management and securitization reporting.
• Role expected to evolve with company growth, supporting additional investment management and securitization vehicles as Backflip scales its asset management and capital markets operations.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Active CPA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience at a top-tier financial institution or accounting firm
• At least 2+ years of experience with loan/debt accounting, fund accounting, SPVs, investment entities, alternative asset managers, securitizations, warehouse facilities, and cash waterfall concepts
• Demonstrated expertise in GAAP for loan portfolios, monthly close mechanics, and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with LoanPro or similar loan management system
• Attention to detail, strong follow-through, and comfort meeting stringent deadlines
• Advanced computer skills with willingness to learn new technologies (Slack, Google Workspace, HubSpot, QuickBooks Online, etc.)
