📋 Description

• Lead and execute the monthly accounting close process with precision and timeliness, ensuring accurate financial reporting across all systems and ledgers
• Manage treasury operations including daily cash flow monitoring, cash balance reconciliation, and forecasting risks or opportunities in collaboration with Finance leadership
• Prepare and coordinate quarterly tax payments and filings with external tax advisors, ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations
• Own all monthly bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly to maintain accurate financial records
• Prepare and review accrued expenses and related schedules, ensuring proper timing and classification under GAAP standards
• Manage prepaid expenses from setup through amortization and final reconciliation, maintaining clear audit trails and documentation
• Conduct month-over-month (MoM) flux and variance analyses, providing clear written explanations for significant deviations in financial performance
• Support all month-end close activities, including journal entry reviews, account reconciliations, and interdepartmental coordination to meet deadlines
• Maintain and continuously improve internal accounting documentation in Notion, including close checklists, process guides, and control procedures
• Ensure all accounting documentation is audit-ready, consistently updated, and accessible to internal stakeholders and external auditors
• Proactively identify inefficiencies in current accounting workflows and propose scalable improvements as the company grows
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment on financial controls and reporting accuracy
• Work remotely within the U.S. with full autonomy while maintaining high standards of accountability and communication
• Serve as a key advisor to Finance leadership by surfacing financial insights, operational risks, and opportunities for process optimization
• Document all accounting policies and procedures with clarity and completeness to enable seamless onboarding and continuity
• Participate in annual audit preparation by providing requested materials, responding to auditor inquiries, and maintaining transparency throughout the process
• Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive financial data and internal controls
• Adapt quickly to evolving priorities, ambiguous situations, and new responsibilities in a fast-paced, scaling startup environment

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Previous Big 4 experience or an active CPA license
• 4–7+ years of accounting or finance experience
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and finance operations
• Experience driving key month-end close processes
• Experience documenting processes and maintaining internal knowledge bases (e.g., Notion)
