📋 Description

  • **Lead and Elevate Global Accounting Operations at Notion:** Notion Labs, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to spearhead and fortify our global accounting function. This pivotal leadership role emerges at a truly exhilarating juncture in Notion's trajectory, offering a unique opportunity to significantly influence and shape our worldwide accounting operations. You will be instrumental in strengthening our financial infrastructure, guiding a talented team through a period of substantial growth and scale, and impacting core accounting processes. This position demands a hands-on accounting leader who possesses a robust blend of deep technical expertise, unwavering operational discipline, exceptional team leadership capabilities, and a visionary, forward-looking perspective. If you are passionate about building and optimizing financial systems in a dynamic, high-growth environment, this role is for you.
  • **Drive Month-End Close Excellence:** Take ownership of critical components of the global month-end close process. Ensure unparalleled accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple legal entities and diverse currencies. This involves meticulous review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactively, and collaborating closely with regional accounting teams to ensure consistent application of accounting policies.
  • **Enhance Consolidation, Allocation, and Intercompany Processes:** Lead the charge in refining and optimizing our global consolidation, expense allocation, and intercompany accounting processes. Drive efficiency and implement automation solutions to streamline these complex areas, reducing manual effort and enhancing data accuracy. This includes developing and maintaining robust documentation for these processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and facilitating seamless intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
  • **Mentor and Develop a High-Performing Accounting Team:** Manage, mentor, and inspire an experienced team of accounting professionals. Foster a strong culture of accountability, continuous collaboration, and professional development. Empower your team members, provide constructive feedback, facilitate their growth, and ensure they have the resources and support needed to excel. This involves setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, and identifying opportunities for skill enhancement and career progression.
  • **Foster Cross-Functional Partnerships:** Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Finance, including Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Tax, Treasury, Payroll, and Accounts Payable (AP). Work in tandem with Operations leaders and other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the monthly close process and the delivery of accurate financial reporting. Build strong working relationships based on trust and mutual understanding, acting as a key point of contact for accounting-related inquiries and support.
  • **Support Business Reporting and Strategic Analysis:** Contribute significantly to business reporting needs, encompassing both recurring management reports and ad hoc analytical requests. Provide insightful financial data and analysis to support strategic decision-making, business reviews, and investor relations activities. This may involve developing new reporting metrics, enhancing existing reports, and performing deep-dive analyses into financial performance drivers.
  • **Champion Process Optimization and Automation:** Proactively identify opportunities to streamline existing accounting workflows, automate repetitive manual processes, and optimize the utilization of our financial systems. Drive initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce operational risks, and improve the overall quality and speed of accounting operations. Embrace new technologies and methodologies to achieve best-in-class financial operations.
  • **Build Robust Internal Controls and Public-Company Readiness:** Play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal controls and reporting structures. Ensure these frameworks align with best-in-class public-company practices and prepare the company for future public offerings or enhanced regulatory scrutiny. This includes developing and testing SOX-compliant controls and ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards.
  • **Embrace AI for Smarter Work:** While deep AI expertise is not a prerequisite, a strong curiosity and willingness to adopt and leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and the quality of your work is highly valued. Be open to exploring how AI can automate tasks, provide deeper insights, and ultimately help you deliver superior results in a fast-paced environment.
  • **Contribute to a Culture of Innovation:** Notion is a company built by builders, and we value individuals who are proactive, innovative, and passionate about creating exceptional tools. As Senior Accounting Manager, you will contribute to a culture that encourages creative problem-solving and continuous improvement in all aspects of our financial operations.
  • **Embrace In-Office Collaboration:** Notion values in-person collaboration. You will be expected to work from our San Francisco office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days, to foster teamwork and synergy. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays, ensuring strong team cohesion and effective communication.
