📋 Description

• As a Senior Agentic AI Software Engineer at Hopper Inc., you will be at the forefront of integrating advanced AI agent systems into software development, enabling autonomous feature delivery at unprecedented speed and reliability. Your work will directly impact Hopper’s Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) platform, which powers travel booking experiences for major global brands including banks, airlines, and fintech leaders, making travel more accessible and seamless for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
• You will drive technical innovation by architecting scalable systems and feedback loops that maximize the productivity and safety of AI agents, ensuring that automation enhances — not replaces — engineering excellence, all while operating in a high-trust, low-process environment that values autonomy and impact.
• Your day-to-day will involve identifying and executing codebase improvements to enable AI agents to operate faster and safer, collaborating with top-tier engineers to refine system design, and orchestrating AI-driven development from UX to database with minimal oversight.
• You will work asynchronously with product managers and business partners to define and refine the product roadmap, leveraging AI to generate thoughtful documentation and specifications that align technical execution with customer-centric outcomes.
• You will architect foundational patterns and scalable solutions that allow Hopper to rapidly launch new travel portals for partners, reducing time-to-market and engineering overhead while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance.
• You will engage in deep dives into complex, unfamiliar codebases with a focus on delivering results quickly, guiding AI agents through automated workflows to implement and maintain sophisticated software systems.
• You will establish and evolve technical guardrails and feedback mechanisms that ensure AI agents operate reliably within the codebase, balancing innovation with system integrity and long-term maintainability.
• You will collaborate with a diverse, global team of engineers, giving and receiving high-level feedback that fosters continuous learning and professional growth in an entrepreneurial culture that rewards risk-taking and innovation.
• You will have the opportunity to shape the future of AI-augmented software engineering at a scale that few companies attempt, gaining mastery in distributed systems, AI agent orchestration, and product-driven architecture while contributing to a platform that processes billions of dollars in travel transactions annually.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven ability to direct AI agents and automated workflows to architect, implement, and maintain complex software systems with minimal human intervention.
• Expertise in designing technical guardrails and automated feedback loops that maximize the productivity and reliability of AI agents operating within a codebase.
• Strong product thinking where your conception of quality and architecture is inherently anchored in the customer experience.
• Experience with, or a mastery-level willingness to learn, distributed system development in Scala.
• Natural drive to fearlessly deep dive into an unknown code base while keeping focus on delivering results fast.
• Demonstrated skill in working asynchronously with PMs and business partners to define and refine roadmaps using AI-generated documentation and specifications.
