- • Shape the future of human-avatar interaction. As a Senior AI Engineer at elai.io (now proudly part of Panopto), you will sit at the intersection of research and product, turning the newest breakthroughs in computer vision, generative AI, and emotion recognition into production-grade features that delight millions of learners worldwide.
- • Own the full model lifecycle—from literature review to live deployment. You will scan top-tier conferences (CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH) for ideas that can leapfrog our avatar realism and emotional fidelity, rapidly prototype them in PyTorch or TensorFlow, and then harden the best concepts into scalable micro-services running on AWS/GCP.
- • Architect and train state-of-the-art neural networks. Expect to work daily with diffusion models, NeRFs, 3D GANs, and transformer-based sequence generators to synthesize expressive talking-head videos that maintain lip-sync accuracy, emotional nuance, and temporal coherence across dozens of languages and lighting conditions.
- • Define and defend quality. You will design offline metrics (FID, LPIPS, PSNR, SSIM) and online A/B success criteria (user engagement, watch-time, sentiment) to ensure every model iteration measurably improves the learner experience. Deep statistical analysis and large-scale experimentation are core to your weekly rhythm.
- • Curate and scale data. From open-source face datasets to proprietary emotion corpora, you will identify, license, clean, and annotate terabytes of video, audio, and text. You will also build automated pipelines for synthetic data generation and continuous active-learning loops that keep our models fresh and bias-free.
- • Ship robust, secure, and efficient code. You will write modular Python packages, containerize them with Docker, orchestrate them on Kubernetes, and expose clean REST/gRPC APIs. You will partner with DevOps to set up CI/CD, model versioning, and real-time monitoring so that every release is safe, fast, and reversible.
- • Champion knowledge sharing. Through design docs, internal tech talks, and pair-programming sessions, you will upskill the broader engineering org on the latest CV and generative-model techniques. Your mentorship will shorten the learning curve for junior researchers and raise our collective AI bar.
- • Stay ahead of the curve. You will represent elai.io/Panopto at academic meetups and open-source communities, publish select findings, and file patents where appropriate—cementing our reputation as pioneers in emotionally intelligent video avatars.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally. You will work hand-in-hand with product managers to translate classroom pain points into AI requirements, with UX designers to ensure generated avatars feel natural, and with QA to build automated regression suites that catch visual glitches before users ever see them.
- • Impact learning at global scale. Your models will power asynchronous lectures, corporate training, and accessibility tools for millions of learners who rely on Panopto’s interactive video platform—making education more engaging, inclusive, and effective across EMEA and beyond.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field plus 4+ years of deep-learning experience
- • Expert-level Python and hands-on mastery of PyTorch or TensorFlow
- • Proven track record with computer vision or generative models (GANs, VAEs, diffusion, NeRFs)
- • End-to-end model training, evaluation, and deployment experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Docker/Kubernetes
- • Strong written and verbal English for documentation, code reviews, and cross-time-zone collaboration
