📋 Description

• Build end-to-end AI-powered product features using React/TypeScript for the frontend and Node.js/Python for the backend, focusing on real-time streaming, human-in-the-loop interactions, and graceful degradation of AI outputs.
• Translate advanced AI capabilities—including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and structured reasoning—into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that make compliance tasks feel effortless for practitioners.
• Partner closely with AI engineers to define API contracts and output schemas, ensuring seamless integration between backend intelligence and frontend user experiences.
• Advocate for the user’s perspective in technical decisions by identifying where AI model outputs fail in practice and iterating the product layer to improve reliability and trust.
• Design and implement user-facing feedback loops that capture signal on AI output quality and make that data actionable for the broader AI team to improve model performance.
• Instrument AI features with product-level observability metrics including latency, engagement, task completion, and drop-off rates, alongside end-to-end tests that validate full-stack behavior.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns such as streaming hooks, feedback components, and AI state management systems to accelerate the development of future AI features.
• Mentor junior engineers on AI product development best practices, participate in design reviews with both technical depth and product instinct, and help elevate the team’s collective capability.
• Work within a hybrid model in San Francisco, collaborating in-office Tuesday through Thursday for high-impact team alignment, with flexible Mondays and Fridays for focused work and autonomy.
• Operate within a fast-paced, mission-driven culture that emphasizes ownership, precision, velocity, and customer obsession, where ambiguity is common and iteration is rapid.
• Contribute to defining the standard for how AI features look, feel, and behave across Drata’s product, setting a benchmark that the entire product engineering organization will follow.
• Directly impact compliance practitioners by turning AI intelligence into trusted, usable product interactions that increase their capability and confidence.
• Accelerate the velocity of AI feature shipping by creating reusable components and interfaces that reduce time-to-market for subsequent features.
• Influence the product roadmap through direct exposure to both customer experience and AI capability layers, identifying gaps and opportunities before others in the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping full-stack features in production
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building AI-powered product features using LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic)
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building responsive, interactive UIs that handle async, streaming, and real-time data
• Solid experience with Python and Node.js for backend development and integrating with LLM providers, orchestration frameworks, or AI services
• Practical understanding of prompt engineering, context management, RAG, quality/evals (e.g., Braintrust), and structured outputs in production environments
• Experience implementing streaming response patterns (SSE, WebSockets, chunked HTTP) and building UIs that handle partial, progressive, or uncertain AI outputs
