- • As a Senior Analyst for Africa at The Economist Group, you will be an intellectual cornerstone of our regional team, driving forward critical analysis and insightful commentary on key North African countries and broader regional dynamics. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the understanding of complex geopolitical and economic landscapes for our global clientele.
- • You will embody a strong sense of editorial judgment, ensuring that all products and services delivered by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) consistently meet our stringent quality standards. This involves meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to champion and disseminate our work on Africa both internally within The Economist Group (TEG) and externally to a diverse audience. This includes engaging directly with external clients, responding to their analytical needs, and representing The EIU in discussions with media organizations, thereby enhancing our brand visibility and influence.
- • You will play a vital role in the commercial success of the Research and Analysis business by focusing on delivering tangible value to our clients. This means understanding their strategic objectives and providing analysis that directly contributes to their decision-making processes and helps them navigate challenges and opportunities.

- • A significant responsibility will be managing external contributors. This involves identifying, vetting, and commissioning suitable freelance experts to provide supplementary analysis on political and economic events within your countries of responsibility, ensuring a breadth and depth of coverage.
- • You will be expected to conduct in-depth research and analysis on the political, economic, and social trends impacting North Africa and the wider continent. This includes monitoring developments, identifying key drivers of change, and assessing their implications for businesses, governments, and international organizations.
- • Developing and maintaining a robust network of contacts within governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society across the region will be essential for gathering timely and accurate information and for validating your analysis.
- • You will be responsible for writing and editing high-quality analytical reports, forecasts, and risk assessments that are tailored to the specific needs of our clients. This requires exceptional writing skills and the ability to present complex information in a concise and compelling manner.
- • Contributing to the development of proprietary datasets and analytical frameworks that enhance the EIU's research capabilities and competitive edge will be a key objective.
- • You will represent The EIU at conferences, seminars, and client meetings, presenting your research and engaging in discussions on regional issues, further solidifying our position as a thought leader.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in senior analytical or research positions, with a demonstrable track record of delivering high-quality insights and analysis on macroeconomic trends and policy issues.
- • A deep and comprehensive understanding of macroeconomic data, forecasting techniques, and their application to real-world economic and policy challenges, particularly within the African context.
- • In-depth knowledge of the economics and policy landscapes of North African countries and a strong grasp of broader regional economic and political dynamics.
- • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior executives and policymakers.
- • A Master's degree in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field, or an MBA, demonstrating a strong academic foundation.
