  • • As a Senior Analyst within the Defined Benefit (DB) Pension Administration team at TELUS Health, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely administration of complex pension plans. Your role is pivotal in supporting our clients, members, and internal consulting teams by providing expert analytical and administrative support. You will leverage your deep understanding of pension plan provisions and legislative requirements to deliver exceptional service and maintain the integrity of our recordkeeping systems.
  • • A core responsibility involves managing and processing benefit payments for plan members. This includes calculating and executing payments for terminations, retirements, and death benefits for medium-sized plans. For simpler plans, you will be responsible for reviewing these calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance. This requires meticulous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of actuarial principles and financial calculations.
  • • You will be a key liaison, fostering and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships between our clients and the dedicated consulting teams. This involves ensuring seamless coordination of information flow between clients, trustees, and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact and problem-solver.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will be the precise reconciliation of plan assets and membership data. This critical task ensures that our records are always up-to-date and accurately reflect the financial status and member count of each pension plan, providing a solid foundation for all administrative and actuarial processes.
  • • As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to the development and training of new analysts. This includes imparting your knowledge of our proprietary Ariel administration system, established procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and high standards across the team.
  • • You will be responsible for the accurate preparation of year-end annual pension statements for plan members. This involves compiling and presenting complex financial and benefit information in a clear, understandable format, adhering to all regulatory disclosure requirements.
  • • Preparing membership and asset data for actuarial valuations is another crucial duty. You will meticulously gather, organize, and present this data to actuaries, ensuring they have the accurate information needed to perform their valuations and assessments.
  • • A deep understanding and application of defined benefit pension calculations are essential. You will interpret and apply plan provisions and relevant provincial pension and tax legislation to ensure all calculations and administrative actions are compliant and equitable for members.
  • • You will work extensively with our pension databases, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of member and plan data. This involves data entry, validation, and troubleshooting any discrepancies that may arise.
  • • Continuous learning is encouraged and expected. You will attend internal training sessions to stay abreast of evolving industry trends, legislative changes, and advancements in pension administration technology and practices.
  • • You will actively participate in client meetings and internal presentations, contributing your expertise and insights to discussions, and helping to add value to client relationships and project outcomes.
  • • In addition to your regular duties, you will be called upon to assist with special projects as required. These projects may involve system enhancements, process improvements, or other strategic initiatives aimed at supporting team and company goals.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to work remotely, providing flexibility while maintaining a high level of productivity and collaboration within a dynamic and supportive team environment. You will be part of a global-leading health and well-being provider, contributing to a mission of empowering individuals to live their healthiest lives through innovative technology and personalized solutions.
