  • • Lead end-to-end development, maintenance, and deployment of Sprig’s Android SDK, ensuring high performance and minimal footprint across millions of active devices and 1B+ monthly visitors.
  • • Collaborate with the mobile team to build and optimize in-product survey studies and session replay features delivered via native Android SDK, alongside Flutter and React Native SDKs.
  • • Own the full lifecycle of SDK releases, including versioning, changelogs, deprecations, and backward compatibility, treating all public APIs as contracts with external developers.
  • • Proactively address Android-specific challenges including foreign Application/Activity contexts, process death scenarios, OEM device quirks, ANRs, memory leaks, and main-thread violations.
  • • Utilize crash analytics and logging systems not just for incident response but as continuous feedback loops to improve SDK reliability and user experience.
  • • Design and implement SDK components that function reliably across diverse consumer applications, including embedded platforms, with strict adherence to performance and privacy standards.
  • • Coordinate cross-platform release cycles with WebSDK and other mobile platforms to ensure synchronized, scalable, and consistent product updates.
  • • Translate complex product and design requirements into precise technical specifications, using concrete examples such as repro steps, header values, and min SDK implications to bridge gaps between teams.
  • • Engage directly with enterprise customers—including Microsoft, DoorDash, Notion, Figma, Coinbase, and TripAdvisor—to understand their integration challenges and improve SDK usability.
  • • Contribute to product roadmap discussions by identifying technical opportunities and constraints that influence feature development and customer outcomes.
  • • Maintain rigorous documentation for SDK usage, integration guides, and release notes to support external developers and internal stakeholders.
  • • Mentor cross-functional engineering colleagues on Android best practices, performance optimization, and SDK architecture principles.
  • • Stay current with industry trends and evolving Android platform standards to ensure Sprig’s SDK remains at the forefront of mobile instrumentation technology.
  • • Ensure all SDK code meets stringent security, privacy, and compliance requirements for handling user behavior data in consumer applications.
  • • Participate in on-call rotations to monitor SDK health and respond to critical incidents affecting live integrations.
  • • Champion engineering excellence by introducing automated testing, CI/CD improvements, and observability tooling tailored to SDK deployment environments.
  • • Work three days per week in the San Francisco office to collaborate closely with core engineering, product, and design teams.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum 5+ years of experience developing on Android platforms
  • • Deep understanding of Android Application/Activity contexts, process death, and OEM-specific quirks
  • • Proactive focus on startup performance, memory usage, ANRs, and main-thread discipline using crash analytics and logging for proactive SDK improvements
  • • Experience owning SDK versioning, deprecations, and public API contracts with clear documentation and backward compatibility practices
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate between product, design, and web teams using technical examples
  • • Comfort working in a cross-platform environment with Flutter and React Native SDKs (bonus)
