- • Are you passionate about the intersection of cutting-edge computer vision research and robust, scalable production systems? Do you thrive in an environment where you can directly influence the evolution of a critical platform that powers real-time experiences for millions of users? GameChanger Media, Inc. is seeking a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer, II to join our dynamic Computer Vision Platform team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of applied ML, transforming groundbreaking research into reliable, high-performance solutions that impact the youth sports community.
- • At GameChanger, we believe in the profound, life-changing impact of youth sports. These experiences foster leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence – essential life lessons that empower young people for brighter futures. Our mission is to build the premier platform for experiencing youth sports moments, supporting the coaches, parents, and volunteers who make organized youth sports possible. If you're driven by a love for sports, community building, or the challenge of creating exceptional products, GameChanger is the place for you. We are a remote-first, innovative tech company based in New York City, dedicated to solving some of the most significant challenges in youth sports today.
- • As a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer, II on the Computer Vision Platform team, you will be instrumental in building and operating the real-time inference infrastructure that delivers our computer vision-powered features to millions of users every weekend. You will act as a crucial bridge between our talented CV researchers and the production environment. Your role will involve close collaboration with researchers to refine their models and code for optimal performance and reliability at scale. You will guide them towards leveraging existing platform capabilities, ensuring consistency and efficiency. Furthermore, you will partner with our MLOps and backend engineering teams to identify and address infrastructure gaps, contributing to the continuous evolution of our platform. A key aspect of this role is influencing the technical direction of the platform itself. By analyzing patterns across various research initiatives, you will proactively identify and propose the development of new capabilities that will enhance our offerings and streamline our development processes.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be multifaceted and impactful. You will engage directly with CV researchers, delving into their project goals, meticulously reviewing their code, and applying your engineering expertise to optimize it for both reliability and performance in a large-scale, real-time inference setting. A significant part of your work will involve profiling and optimizing performance-sensitive code across the entire ML lifecycle, from training pipelines to real-time inference systems. You will be tasked with identifying recurring patterns and common challenges across different research efforts, leading to the proposal and development of standardized, composable abstractions that can be reused across the team. This proactive approach to abstraction will significantly improve development velocity and system maintainability. You will collaborate closely with MLOps and backend engineers, translating the pain points and needs identified in research into concrete platform investments. This will involve authoring design documents and architecture proposals that clearly articulate the technical vision and implementation details. A critical aspect of your role will be guiding researchers toward adopting production-oriented engineering practices. This includes fostering a culture of robust testability, promoting modular code design, and emphasizing the importance of performance profiling to ensure the quality and efficiency of their work. You will be a key contributor to the technical roadmap, ensuring our platform remains at the cutting edge of applied ML in the youth sports domain.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of computer vision applications in a meaningful context. You will not only be building sophisticated ML systems but also contributing to a mission that positively impacts the lives of young athletes and their communities. If you are a seasoned engineer with a deep understanding of ML systems and a desire to make a tangible difference, we encourage you to apply.
