- • AECOM is seeking a highly experienced and licensed Senior Architect with a profound specialization in the design and delivery of colocation and hyperscale cloud data center facilities. This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned professional who possesses a demonstrable history of successfully leading intricate, mission-critical projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial conceptualization to final commissioning. As a Senior Architect, you will be instrumental in defining and shaping the architectural frameworks of high-performance, exceptionally secure, and robustly scalable data center environments. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing the dynamic and ever-increasing demands of premier cloud service providers and leading colocation clients, ensuring our facilities not only meet but exceed their stringent requirements.
- • You will spearhead the architectural design process for a diverse portfolio of large-scale hyperscale cloud data center and colocation projects. This leadership extends across all project phases, encompassing early-stage conceptual development, detailed design, construction documentation, administration during the construction phase, and meticulous project closeout. Your role involves a high degree of collaboration, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of internal engineering specialists (including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers), experienced construction professionals, and a wide array of external stakeholders. The objective is to foster the development of fully coordinated, integrated, and optimized design solutions that harmonize all project elements.
- • A core responsibility will be the development, review, and refinement of architectural drawings, comprehensive specifications, and detailed technical documentation. This critical task ensures that all designs adhere strictly to relevant building codes, industry standards, client-specific design guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Your keen eye for detail and deep understanding of architectural principles will be paramount in producing documentation that is accurate, complete, and constructible.
- • You will actively manage and coordinate with a network of external consultants, specialized contractors, and local permitting authorities. This proactive engagement is vital for facilitating smooth project delivery, navigating complex approval processes, and ensuring unwavering compliance with all applicable regulations and jurisdictional requirements.
- • As the designated architectural subject matter expert (SME) for hyperscale and colocation clients, you will serve as the primary point of contact for architectural matters. Your insights will directly influence facility designs, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring long-term scalability to accommodate future growth, and guaranteeing the utmost reliability of the data center infrastructure. This involves translating client operational needs into tangible architectural solutions.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves mentorship and guidance. You will be responsible for mentoring and developing junior architects and designers within the team. This includes fostering an environment that encourages technical excellence, promotes innovative design thinking, and supports professional growth, thereby building a stronger, more capable architectural practice within AECOM.
- • Continuous learning and knowledge application are essential. You will be expected to maintain and actively apply your in-depth knowledge of evolving industry best practices, emerging technologies, and the latest design trends specifically within the data center sector. This ensures AECOM remains at the forefront of data center architectural innovation.
- • Furthermore, you will contribute to AECOM's business development efforts. This includes supporting proposal writing activities, developing compelling conceptual architectural designs for new project pursuits, and articulating AECOM's capabilities to potential clients. Your expertise will be a key asset in securing new and exciting projects.
- • This role offers the unique opportunity to work remotely, providing flexibility while contributing to world-class data center projects. You will be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of digital infrastructure, delivering solutions that power the global economy.
