- • Senior Back End Engineer role focused on building and scaling a real-time, multi-dimensional calculations engine for Abacum’s Business Planning platform, enabling finance teams to shift from manual reporting to strategic decision-making.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and design teams to build performant, reusable interfaces; driving user-defined data modeling; taking operational ownership of components; scaling data and calculation platforms for growing client complexity; and incorporating customer feedback to improve the product.
- • Abacum is a fast-growing, remote-first company headquartered in New York with offices in Toronto and Barcelona, serving global finance teams at companies like Strava, BetterUp, and Kajabi; backed by $100M+ in funding including a recent $60M Series B led by Scale Venture Partners.

🎯 Requirements
- • Strong proficiency in Python and PostgreSQL
- • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments
- • Deep understanding of performance optimization and observability in backend systems
- • Product mindset and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- • Experience with complex data structures and data-driven development
- • Bonus: Experience with Pandas, Polars, or similar DataFrame libraries; ML/AI solutions; or scaling complex data platforms
