- • As a Senior Backend Engineer at DuckDuckGo, you will lead complex, high-impact projects that directly support the company’s mission to raise the standard of trust online by building privacy-first consumer products used by millions.
- • Day to day, you will write pragmatic, performant, and testable code using Perl (Version 5), Go, and Node.js to implement AI-assisted answers, enhance Duck.ai, and develop sophisticated data processing pipelines that maintain search relevancy while collaborating remotely with peers and taking ownership of product issues across the all-in-one privacy solution.
- • You will join a remote-first team of 300+ at DuckDuckGo, a profitable, mission-driven company founded in 2008 with over $100M in annual revenue, where trust, inclusivity, and empowered project management define the culture and each engineer owns their work from scoping to postmortem.
- • In this role, you will grow into a formal mentor for other engineers, supporting their career development and contributing to the growth of the Backend Team, while sharpening your skills in AI agent tooling, data structures, algorithms, and data-driven decision-making in a transparent, equity-focused environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of professional experience focused on backend systems powering consumer-facing products
- • Familiarity with AI agent tooling including evaluation frameworks, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
- • Solid project management abilities and experience leading and mentoring experienced engineers
