Senior Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own the architecture of a mission-critical feedback engine that processes millions of guest surveys nightly for hotels and restaurants worldwide. You will define service boundaries, make hard scalability trade-offs, and improve observability so that every metric is trustworthy and every failure is explainable.
• • Act as the right-hand technical partner to the Team Lead, not just implementing features but deciding how we implement them. You will shape the technical roadmap, lead design sessions, and ensure that every architectural decision balances customer value, operational load, and long-term maintainability.
• • Coordinate backend decisions across multiple squads, aligning API contracts, shared infrastructure, and data contracts so that the Customer Feedback platform evolves cohesively with TrustYou’s AI-powered CXP and CDP products.
• • Collaborate daily with the Product Manager to translate user stories into technical solutions that reduce complexity and maximize outcome. You will challenge assumptions, propose simpler alternatives, and ensure that every line of code serves a measurable business purpose.
• • Lead large-scale refactoring initiatives that modernize legacy Python services, introduce robust testing strategies, and embed domain-driven design principles. You will enforce code quality through reviews, pair programming, and automated tooling so that technical debt is visible and manageable.
• • Design and operate fault-tolerant data pipelines using Argo Workflows, Kafka, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL. You will ensure that survey ingestion, enrichment, and analytics jobs are idempotent, replayable, and observable at petabyte scale.
• • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through weekly 1:1s, architecture clinics, and brown-bag sessions. You will foster a culture where knowledge is shared freely, mistakes are celebrated as learning opportunities, and everyone feels safe to speak up.
• • Champion pragmatic engineering: balance performance, maintainability, and delivery speed under high operational load. You will introduce SLOs, error budgets, and chaos testing practices that keep the platform resilient while shipping value every sprint.
• • Drive continuous improvement of our CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native tooling on AWS. You will automate repetitive tasks, reduce deployment friction, and ensure that releases are boring and rollback is trivial.
• • Contribute to the broader TrustYou engineering community by writing internal RFCs, presenting at guild meetings, and participating in cross-team architecture reviews. Your influence will extend beyond the Customer Feedback squad to shape company-wide standards.
