- • Senior Backend Engineer at Remote Technologies Inc., a global HR platform enabling compliant international hiring, payroll, and team management. You’ll join a distributed engineering team building scalable backend systems using Elixir, Phoenix, and Postgres, with deployments on AWS via GitLab CI/CD.
- • Day to day, you’ll lead major backend projects, design and implement APIs and integrations, mentor engineers, contribute to code reviews, debug production issues, and drive agentic workflow automation from spec to verification, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
- • Remote is a fully remote, innovation-driven company with team members across 6 continents, committed to async work, equity, and building AI-enhanced engineering practices. You’ll collaborate in cross-functional teams focused on HR and Payroll products, with autonomy to shape your work and impact.
- • You’ll deepen expertise in functional programming, distributed systems, and CI/CD while influencing product direction, mentoring peers, and solving complex global employment challenges at scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
- • Practical experience designing or improving agentic/automation workflows through iteration
- • Proficiency with Postgres and CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar)
- • Ability to define system specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close quality loops
- • Experience with Functional Programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, etc.) – nice to have
- • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, or React/Vue/Angular – nice to have
