- • The Senior Backend Engineer will join Vic.ai’s AI-first integration platform team, building the core iPaaS that connects customers’ ERP and financial systems to Vic.ai’s autonomous accounting engine. This role is critical because reliable, high‑scale data synchronization enables the AI to process hundreds of millions of invoices with precision, directly delivering real‑time financial intelligence to finance teams.
- • Day‑to‑day responsibilities include designing and operating bidirectional data integrations, developing backend services in TypeScript/Node.js (HTTP APIs, queue‑based workers, PostgreSQL), and crafting explicit typed contracts for third‑party APIs (REST, SOAP, OData, OAuth2). The engineer will make jobs idempotent and replay‑safe, implement retries, rate limiting, dead‑lettering, and correlation/audit logging, own services from development through production on AWS, monitor SLAs, and contribute to AI‑assisted onboarding tooling. They will also support adjacent backend domains such as the Public API and core services (Elixir/Phoenix, Python), participate in architectural decisions for platform scalability, and troubleshoot performance, accuracy, and stability issues.

- • In this role you will deepen expertise in building large‑scale, AI‑enabled integration platforms, gain hands‑on experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Elixir/Phoenix, and Python, and work with LLMs and distributed messaging systems. You will master patterns for idempotency, observability, and secure development while operating services on AWS with Docker/Kubernetes. 🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- • 5+ years building and operating production backend systems, primarily in TypeScript/Node.js, Elixir/Phoenix, Python.
- • Experience building on top of LLMs.
- • Experience integrating with third‑party APIs (REST, SOAP, OData, OAuth2, webhooks).
- • Solid grasp of queue‑based and distributed systems: idempotency, retries, dead‑lettering, and backpressure.
- • Proven experience taking systems from development to production and operating them using best practices.
- • Strong understanding of performance monitoring, logging, observability, and operational reliability.
- • Experience scaling and optimizing relational databases.
- • Exposure to IT security principles and demonstrated adherence to secure development practices.
- • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate effectively in a fast‑moving environment.
