📋 Description

• Senior Backend Engineer role focused on building and scaling real-time risk scoring, screening, and monitoring systems for blockchain compliance at Elliptic Enterprises Limited.
• Design and build robust, high-throughput backend services; collaborate with data engineering to deliver personalized blockchain insights; contribute to sanctions reporting infrastructure; scale systems for enterprise growth; own complex technical areas; mentor engineers and review code to raise technical quality.
• Part of Elliptic's Real-time Risk team, which builds the engine powering customer screening, monitoring, and action on blockchain risk to keep compliance teams ahead of financial crime at enterprise scale.
• Achieve technical ownership of system areas, deepen understanding of sanctions screening and continuous monitoring, drive architecture decisions, and deliver meaningful contributions to a high-stakes, data-intensive platform within the first six months.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
• Strong TypeScript/Node.js experience with ability to write clean, well-tested, production-ready code
• Proven experience working with complex event-driven, streaming, or queue-backed architectures (e.g. Kinesis, Kafka, SQS) in production
• Solid understanding of distributed systems trade-offs: consistency, availability, latency, and failure modes
• Experience with NoSQL and caching technologies, with comfort reasoning about data access patterns and performance
• AI fluency: actively uses AI tools to accelerate work and can demonstrate effective application in engineering contexts
