📋 Description

• Senior Backend Engineer role focused on designing the backbone of intelligent finance systems for Airwallex’s Agentic AI team, enabling scalable, secure, and reliable processing of high-volume financial data.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include building distributed, event-driven systems in Python (FastAPI + Pydantic) on GCP, owning end-to-end data architecture, developing resilient infrastructure primitives, and collaborating with ML and product teams to productionize AI-powered financial workflows.
• Airwallex is a globally valued fintech company (US$8B valuation) with over 2,200 employees across 26 offices, powering integrated payments and financial platforms for 200,000+ businesses worldwide using proprietary infrastructure and software.
• The role offers the opportunity to solve unprecedented technical challenges using unique financial datasets, shape an AI-native financial stack, and grow expertise in systems + AI integration while contributing to platform foundations used across the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years backend experience with Python at scale
• Deep knowledge of SQL/NoSQL database design
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices
• Familiarity with GCP services (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, KMS, etc.)
• Strong grasp of security and compliance best practices
• Passion for building the backend that powers intelligent products
