- • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that integrate AI capabilities into Deel’s global payroll workflows, enabling automated compliance, document processing, and worker support features.
- • Collaborate directly with machine learning engineers and operations teams to deploy production-grade AI tools that enhance payroll accuracy, reduce manual intervention, and improve user experience for global clients and workers.
- • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs that connect internal systems with third-party AI providers such as OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic, ensuring secure, low-latency data exchange in high-volume transaction environments.
- • Engineer ETL pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform unstructured and messy data from diverse sources including PDFs, CSVs, Excel files, and scanned documents into structured formats usable by AI models and payroll systems.
- • Implement and refine prompt engineering techniques to improve the reliability and relevance of AI-generated outputs in HR and payroll contexts, such as contract summarization, tax classification, and benefits eligibility determination.
- • Integrate document parsing libraries and tools to extract key data from employment contracts, tax forms, and identification documents, reducing manual data entry and accelerating onboarding for international workers.
- • Build conversational interfaces and chatbot workflows that assist employees and employers in navigating payroll inquiries, benefits enrollment, and compliance requirements across 150+ countries and 74 languages.
- • Ensure backend systems meet strict global compliance standards for data privacy, financial reporting, and labor regulations while maintaining high availability and auditability for mission-critical payroll operations.
- • Participate in code reviews, architectural planning, and incident response for systems handling $11.2 billion in annual worker payments across 109 countries.
- • Work in a fully remote, globally distributed team of 7,000 across 100+ countries, contributing to a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and inclusive collaboration.
- • Maintain and improve system reliability using Node.js, PostgreSQL, and modern backend frameworks while scaling infrastructure to support Deel’s $1B+ Annual Recurring Revenue and rapid growth trajectory.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering
- • Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
- • Strong experience integrating AI APIs into production systems
- • Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines and unstructured/messy data
- • Solid API integration skills
