📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java Spring Boot microservices powering Real’s real estate platform, with a focus on Java 17+ and migration toward Java 21.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices across the backend engineering team using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex in daily workflows.
• Validate, refactor, and own AI-generated code before deployment, ensuring production readiness through rigorous evaluation of correctness, performance, and maintainability.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD), hexagonal architecture, and CQRS patterns to structure backend systems.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver features end-to-end, from concept to deployment.
• Mentor junior engineers in software engineering best practices, design patterns, code quality, and testing methodologies through pairing sessions, code reviews, and weekly Friday Dev Chats.
• Write and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests with strong code coverage standards to support continuous delivery of multiple deploys per day.
• Optimize relational database performance using PostgreSQL, including indexing strategies, connection pool tuning, ACID transaction management, and schema design impact analysis.
• Evaluate and apply NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis) appropriately based on use case requirements, understanding trade-offs versus relational systems.
• Drive technical improvements by identifying refactoring opportunities using standard design principles and advocating for long-term system health.
• Integrate AI tools with internal systems via Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enhance code review, test generation, documentation, and issue tracking workflows.
• Operate in an agile, fast-paced startup environment with limited information, collaborating closely with product owners to prioritize and execute on high-impact initiatives.
• Work remotely across U.S. time zones while adhering to Eastern Standard Time (EST) work hours to ensure alignment with team and product schedules.
• Leverage AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Datadog, and TeamCity for deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in a cloud-native environment.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x
• Proven experience designing event-driven microservices using DDD, hexagonal architecture, and CQRS
• Deep expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL), including ACID transactions, indexing, and performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) in production development workflows
• Experience with Kafka, DynamoDB, Redis, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Strong ability to validate, refactor, and own AI-generated code for production deployment
