📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript to support Deel’s global payroll and HR platform serving 150+ countries.
• Build and optimize high-performance APIs with JWT authentication, input validation, and queue-based systems to handle millions of transactions daily across multiple currencies.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, designers, and QA to deliver seamless, customer-centric features throughout the entire software development lifecycle—from discovery to deployment.
• Apply SQL expertise, particularly with PostgreSQL, to design efficient database schemas, execute complex data migrations, and optimize queries for performance under heavy load.
• Implement and extend object-oriented systems using proven design patterns to ensure code maintainability, reusability, and scalability across a rapidly growing product suite.
• Optimize systems for concurrency, idempotency, and high-volume transaction processing to ensure reliability and consistency in global financial operations.
• Participate in product planning and technical decision-making, contributing insights that align engineering solutions with business goals and customer needs.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues at "Deel Speed," ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system stability for customers in 109 countries.
• Maintain and enhance a 24/7 SaaS platform running on AWS, leveraging serverless architectures and cloud-native services to support global scale and resilience.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering alignment across cross-functional teams.
• Take ownership of projects with autonomy while actively collaborating with distributed teams across 100+ countries, demonstrating strong asynchronous communication skills.

• Integrate AI-powered tools and automation into backend workflows to improve efficiency, reduce manual errors, and enhance system intelligence.
• Support the platform’s ability to process $11.2 billion in payments annually across nearly 100 currencies with precision, security, and scalability.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Expert proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript
• Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data modeling
• Proven experience designing scalable systems for high-volume transaction processing
• Experience building secure, production-grade APIs with JWT and queue-based systems
• Demonstrated success working in a remote-first, distributed team environment
