📋 Description

• Senior Backend Engineer (PHP) role focused on shaping the future of medical education through the development of the B2B "Educator Tool" product, enabling institutions to use AMBOSS resources effectively for teaching medical students and residents.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include actively contributing to engineering projects from conception to completion, driving best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements, addressing ad-hoc requests from customer support, and sharing knowledge to foster a culture of continuous learning.
• Part of the Educator Experience team at Amboss Technologies Inc., a dynamic company dedicated to empowering physicians globally through innovative learning and clinical decision support tools since 2012, with a mission to make practicing medicine easier and more enjoyable.
• Opportunity to deepen expertise in modern PHP frameworks, API development (REST/GraphQL), database design, and system architecture while contributing to impactful healthcare technology used by medical professionals worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven expertise with PHP and modern frameworks (Symfony, Slim, Laravel) and MySQL
• Experience in the full web development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Proficient in building and integrating APIs (GraphQL and/or RESTful) with strong database design and management skills
• Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, design patterns, and best practices with recent hands-on application
• Proficient in Git for version control including branching, merging, and code review
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
