- • Architect the next generation of Zello’s cloud platform as we migrate from IBM Cloud to Google Cloud Platform, ensuring zero-downtime transitions for a service that already delivers 9 billion messages per month.
- • Own the end-to-end design and rollout of a GitOps-driven infrastructure-as-code framework using Terraform, ArgoCD, and Cloud Build, enabling every engineer to deploy confidently and safely in minutes, not hours.
- • Build and maintain resilient, multi-region Kubernetes clusters with auto-scaling, service mesh, and cost-aware scheduling to handle traffic spikes from emergency-response events and frontline workforces across 200+ countries.
- • Establish golden-path CI/CD pipelines for both monorepos and microservices, embedding security scanning, performance regression tests, and cost anomaly detection so releases ship faster without surprises.
- • Partner daily with backend, mobile, and data teams to translate product requirements into cloud-native architectures—designing VPCs, IAM policies, Pub/Sub topics, and Cloud SQL instances that are secure by default and observable by design.
- • Instrument everything: deploy Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and BigQuery pipelines that give teams real-time SLO dashboards, error-budget alerts, and cost-per-request metrics that drive data-backed decisions.
- • Lead incident response and blameless postmortems, turning outages into automated runbooks and chaos-engineering experiments that harden the platform against future failures.
- • Continuously optimize cloud spend by rightsizing resources, negotiating committed-use discounts, and implementing auto-shutdown policies that save six figures annually without impacting user experience.
- • Champion developer experience by creating self-service tooling, golden Terraform modules, and documentation that reduce onboarding time for new engineers from days to hours.
- • Influence the technical roadmap and mentor junior engineers through design reviews, lunch-and-learns, and pair programming sessions that level-up the entire organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or software engineering roles, including production ownership of high-traffic systems.
- • Expert-level proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code patterns; must have authored reusable, versioned modules and enforced policy via tools like OPA or Sentinel.
- • Demonstrated success designing and operating GCP services (GKE, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Armor) or equivalent AWS/Azure expertise with proven ability to ramp quickly on GCP.
- • Deep understanding of container orchestration and Kubernetes internals, including custom controllers, admission webhooks, and multi-tenant security boundaries.
- • Strong CI/CD background with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Cloud Build; experience implementing progressive delivery (canary, blue-green) and automated rollbacks.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; familiarity with Go, Python, or C++ and databases like MongoDB, MySQL, or Elasticsearch is a strong plus.
