- • The Senior Contracting Specialist at Bon Secours Mercy Health plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless integration of client and vendor agreements by managing procurement and contract execution for services valued up to $2,500,000, directly supporting organizational cost efficiency, service quality, and compliance across healthcare supply chain operations.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining and updating contracting workflows and data systems, providing direct customer support for purchasing services processes, managing supplier onboarding and data standards, negotiating and drafting contract terms, preparing and reviewing RFPs and bids, resolving contract breaches and amendments, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to identify cost savings and service improvements, and offering administrative and project management support to Purchased Services leadership.
- • The role involves mentoring and training junior Contract Specialists, developing process documentation and best practices, ensuring compliance with policies, and collaborating with the Director of Purchased Services to define workflows and training requirements for less experienced team members.
- • Operating within the Supply Chain - Strategic Sourcing department, the specialist works in a general office environment with remote work flexibility, navigating periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads while maintaining process transparency and service continuity for internal teams and external partners.
- • This position offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in healthcare contracting, develop advanced negotiation and analytical skills, lead process improvement initiatives, and contribute to organizational savings and service quality enhancements while building leadership capabilities through mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, analytics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- • 2 years’ experience in supplier or services contracting working directly with stakeholders, vendors, and legal department
- • 1 year of experience in purchased services contracting
- • Previous experience in contract negotiations for agreements exceeding $1,000,000
- • 2 years’ experience in a customer-facing or problem-solving role
- • Preferred: Previous experience in a direct healthcare environment
- • Preferred: 2 years’ experience in healthcare supply chain or healthcare service line operations
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for formulas and data analysis
- • Strong understanding of service contract language, legal implications, and approval processes
- • Technical ability to learn and use new software applications
- • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with department leaders, customers, and suppliers
- • Analytical skills to interpret data and drive logical conclusions with critical thinking
- • Demonstrated capability to drive continual process improvement using data standards
- • Expert-level understanding and ability to use contract management software
- • Understanding of procurement processes, contract documents, and legal specifications
- • Excellent oral and written communication skills
