• • This is a highly visible Senior Counsel role within our product legal team, focusing on the critical intersection of digital assets, U.S. capital markets, and financial services regulation.
• • You will play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving Coinbase’s U.S. state licensing portfolio, with a primary emphasis on money transmission licenses and the New York BitLicense.
• • Your expertise will be crucial in advising on core product offerings, including trading, custody, and related services, with a specific focus on the legal and regulatory aspects of digital asset support.
• • This position demands a proactive and strategic approach to product counseling, guiding initiatives from initial ideation through to the development of robust policies and procedures.
• • You will conduct in-depth legal research to ensure that our innovative products remain compliant with all applicable laws and regulations in a rapidly evolving landscape.
• • A key responsibility will be to serve as a primary legal advisor for Coinbase’s U.S. state licensing matters, analyzing complex and novel regulatory issues.
• • You will actively support the application process for new licenses and engage directly with state regulators, building and maintaining strong relationships.
• • Your role will involve advising on the legal and regulatory implications of Coinbase’s custodial digital asset products and services, including the listing of new assets on Coinbase Exchange and supporting assets on Coinbase Custody.
• • You will be instrumental in launching new products, ensuring all legal and compliance requirements are met from the outset.
• • Effective and regular communication will be paramount, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders including internal legal teams, external counsel, regulators, and business partners.
• • You will present complex legal concepts clearly and concisely across various forums, from executive presentations and regulatory meetings to informal client touchpoints.
• • Strong interpersonal skills are essential for navigating complex inter-departmental relationships and fostering collaboration across the organization.
• • This role requires exceptional project management, writing, and time-management skills, enabling you to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously with efficiency and precision.
