- • As a Senior Data Scientist at Apify Technologies, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of data-driven decision-making within our rapidly growing organization. You will be the inaugural dedicated data scientist, tasked with establishing the foundational principles, practices, and infrastructure that will guide how Apify leverages data science to achieve its strategic business objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex, end-to-end data science projects, from initial conceptualization and data exploration through to model deployment and impact analysis, directly influencing product adoption, customer retention, and overall business growth.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Go-to-Market (GTM), Growth, Product, and Customer Success. Your insights will empower these teams to understand customer behavior, identify key trends, and optimize their strategies. This collaborative approach ensures that data science initiatives are aligned with business needs and deliver tangible value across the company.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve delving into the intricate data landscape of the Apify platform. Unlike simpler e-commerce models, Apify supports a vast array of use cases with diverse datasets, stemming from its 19,000+ Actors, complex usage-based billing, and multiple pricing tiers. This complexity presents an exciting challenge for a data scientist who thrives on solving intricate puzzles and uncovering hidden patterns.
- • Your responsibilities will include uncovering how customers discover, adopt, and expand their use of the Apify platform. By analyzing the journey from a user's first Actor run to their implementation of sophisticated production workflows, you will provide critical insights that drive activation, retention, and growth strategies.
- • You will lead and partner with business teams to understand their key challenges, meticulously define problems, and design data-driven solutions. This will involve employing hypothesis testing, experimentation, and advanced analytics to validate assumptions and guide strategic decisions.
- • A core part of your work will be building predictive models to forecast customer activation likelihood, identify expansion signals, and understand usage patterns across the extensive range of Actors and pricing models. These models will be crucial for proactive customer engagement and revenue optimization.
- • You will own the complete lifecycle of machine learning model development and deployment. This encompasses everything from data collection, preprocessing, and feature engineering to experimentation, model selection, training, evaluation, and finally, productionization. Your efforts will directly address high-impact business problems, driving measurable improvements.
- • Conducting thorough exploratory data analysis (EDA) will be essential to identify emerging trends, subtle patterns, and actionable insights within product usage and customer behavior data. This foundational analysis will inform strategic initiatives and product development.
- • A key deliverable will be translating complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Effective communication is paramount to ensuring that insights are understood and acted upon.
- • You will play a pivotal role in establishing and documenting data science best practices, robust frameworks, and efficient workflows. These foundational elements will ensure scalability and consistency as the data team expands in 2026 and beyond.
- • Collaboration with data engineers and analysts will be vital to define project requirements, ensure data quality, and build the necessary infrastructure for Apify's burgeoning data science function. This partnership will foster a cohesive and effective data ecosystem.
- • You will leverage a diverse set of data sources and tools, including MongoDB, Mixpanel, Segment, AWS, and HubSpot for data extraction. Your work will involve managing and utilizing Keboola as an ETL tool on Snowflake, and employing various reporting and analytics platforms such as Redash, Tableau, Segment, and Mixpanel for web traffic and user events. You will also utilize HighTouch for reverse-ETL processes and HubSpot for CRM data management.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for data-driven innovation, rigorously testing hypotheses, and proposing solutions that enhance business performance and customer experience.
