This product guarantees small commercial customers that their total electricity expenses will be lower than their incumbent utility's rates. • Currently operational in New York City (NYISO Zone J), we are scaling to onboard hundreds of new customer locations each month. Our strategic expansion plans include entering additional zones and Independent System Operator (ISO) markets across the Northeast. To support this rapid growth and our mission, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to spearhead analytics and data science initiatives. This role will focus on analyzing our expanding network of energy assets in conjunction with real-time energy market dynamics. By intelligently aligning customer energy usage with the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly wholesale energy available, we can offer significantly reduced rates and a demonstrably cleaner energy profile. The automation of these complex decisions at scale is paramount and relies heavily on exceptional data science capabilities.
• In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in tackling multifaceted business challenges. This includes, but is not limited to, developing robust methodologies for cost allocation, implementing sophisticated error detection systems, and creating accurate data imputation techniques to ensure the integrity and reliability of our data. Your primary objective will be to deliver actionable insights that directly contribute to and advance critical business initiatives. You will also take ownership of and actively evolve our data ecosystem, which is built upon Snowflake and dbt. A key responsibility will be ensuring that all data within our systems is not only accurate and well-structured but also readily accessible and understandable for various analytical purposes.
• Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your work. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and operations, to thoroughly understand their data needs. This will involve defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that accurately reflect business performance and establishing comprehensive reporting frameworks to track progress and inform decision-making. Furthermore, you will play a significant role in the strategic planning process by synthesizing complex findings and formulating clear, data-driven recommendations. These insights will be presented to stakeholders across all levels of the organization, from technical teams to executive leadership, influencing strategic direction and operational improvements.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process enhancements and operational efficiencies is highly valued. You will be empowered to lead initiatives aimed at increasing operational accuracy, streamlining workflows, and improving overall efficiency. Ultimately, you will contribute to establishing and nurturing a company-wide culture that champions rigorous, data-informed decision-making, ensuring that every strategic move is backed by sound analytical evidence. 🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of work experience delivering data analytics and analyses with demonstrated impact.
• Fluency in SQL for complex data querying and manipulation.
• Ability to deliver in an early-stage startup environment, demonstrating proactive ownership and independence in navigating uncertainty.
• Clear communication skills with people at all levels of technical ability.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., physics, statistics, mathematics, economics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with dbt and Python.
• Experience in energy trading, grid operations, or deregulated energy markets (namely, ERCOT, ISO-NE, NYISO, or PJM) is a strong plus.
