• • As a Senior Data Scientist, Analytics (Risk & Compliance) at Airwallex, you will be instrumental in shaping and safeguarding the company's global operations by serving as the primary analytics partner for our Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance teams.
• • This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to drive significant impact across Airwallex's extensive global footprint, fundamentally transforming how the organization approaches regulatory reporting and risk oversight.
• • You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust data foundations, developing comprehensive validation frameworks, and creating accessible self-service analytics solutions that are trusted by regulators, auditors, and senior leadership.
• • Your expertise will be crucial in translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable data logic, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of critical financial reporting.
• • You will lead the analytics and data design process for key regulatory reports, encompassing areas such as regulatory compliance, financial crime, and financial regulatory returns, managing the entire lifecycle from initial requirement gathering through to data logic definition, rigorous testing, and successful go-live.
• • A core aspect of your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), Finance, DataOps, and Data Engineering, to standardize the interpretation and application of common data dimensions such as accounts, FX, products, and entities.
• • This standardization will be achieved by leveraging and enhancing the existing regulatory reporting data foundation, ensuring consistency and reliability across all reporting activities.
• • You will work hand-in-hand with Data Engineering to define and implement automated test suites and detailed manual Quality Assurance (QA) playbooks.
• • These comprehensive testing protocols will be essential to ensure that all reports meet the highest standards of accuracy and completeness before submission to regulatory bodies.
• • A key responsibility will be the implementation of snapshotting and versioning strategies.
• • These approaches will enable the consistent regeneration and explanation of historical reports as of specific dates, which is critical for responding to regulatory inquiries (RFIs), audits, and supervisory examinations.
• • When anomalies, RFIs, or audit findings emerge, you will conduct in-depth, meticulous analyses.
• • Your work will involve quantifying the impact of any discrepancies, identifying root causes across various products and entities within the business, and proposing effective remediation options.
• • You will play a significant role in shaping the strategic requirements for a scalable regulatory reporting and risk analytics platform, ensuring that Airwallex's infrastructure can support future growth and evolving regulatory demands.
• • This includes advocating for best practices in analytical rigor, comprehensive documentation, and thorough validation processes.
• • You will champion these best practices among colleagues working on risk and compliance topics, fostering a culture of data excellence.
• • Furthermore, you will provide informal mentorship and guidance to analysts and data scientists within adjacent teams, sharing your knowledge and experience to elevate the team's overall capabilities.
