Senior Database Platform Engineer

📋 Description

• • As a Senior Database Platform Engineer at Kraken, you will own the reliability, availability, performance, capacity, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and security posture of shared data systems that power critical infrastructure for engineering teams across the company.
• • Day to day, you will operate and improve platforms such as Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, MariaDB and other NoSQL databases with tight SLAs, build and maintain high-touch abstractions and self-service workflows for provisioning and schema evolution, use programming and AI-assisted workflows to automate repetitive work, and partner closely with internal engineering teams on data access patterns, query optimization, and safe adoption of shared infrastructure.
• • You will join the Core Infrastructure – Data Systems team, a world-class group responsible for building and running the shared data systems that other engineering teams rely on to ship production services safely and quickly, and scale them globally, operating technologies such as MariaDB, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, and adjacent tooling with a very high operational bar.
• • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in operating production-grade stateful and distributed systems, strengthen your software engineering skills in Python, Rust, Go, or similar languages, gain hands-on experience with Kubernetes for stateful workloads, and improve your ability to implement observability, alerting, incident response, and post-incident improvement practices while contributing to the mission of accelerating global crypto adoption.
