- • Own and evolve Heidi’s production design system across React and Figma, ensuring consistent component behavior across Scribe, Comms, Evidence, and Remote products.
- • Define and enforce design and frontend standards including accessibility (WCAG), component API design, and fidelity between Figma designs and shipped code.
- • Embed directly with product pods to accelerate feature delivery by eliminating redundant work and enabling engineers and designers to reuse validated primitives.
- • Improve developer experience through monorepo optimization, frontend CI/CD enhancements, linting improvements, and tooling that reduces friction in design-to-code workflows.
- • Equip AI coding tools with contextual awareness of the design system to generate on-brand, consistent frontend code automatically.
- • Shape product direction by applying genuine product design taste to the design system, pushing boundaries on what constitutes high-quality user experience beyond implementation of specs.
- • Maintain synchronization between Figma design tokens and React component implementations, ensuring visual and functional consistency across all platforms.
- • Advocate for and implement accessibility best practices as a core requirement, not an afterthought, across all components and interfaces.
- • Drive adoption of the design system by demonstrating tangible improvements in team velocity, code quality, and user experience outcomes.
- • Collaborate with engineering and design leadership to align the design system roadmap with product strategy and long-term scalability goals.
- • Identify and eliminate small but persistent frictions in the design-to-development pipeline that slow down iteration speed and reduce team morale.
- • Contribute to the evolution of the monorepo structure to support efficient builds, testing, and deployment across multiple product lines.
- • Actively participate in peer reviews of component implementations and design proposals, providing constructive feedback grounded in system integrity and user needs.
- • Champion a culture of ownership by treating developer experience as a core product responsibility, not a peripheral task.
- • Translate real-world clinician workflows—especially under pressure, time-constrained, and emotionally taxing conditions—into intuitive, resilient design patterns.
- • Balance innovation with stability, ensuring the design system evolves without introducing breaking changes or fragmentation across products.
- • Measure the impact of design system improvements through adoption metrics, developer feedback, and reduction in design debt or rework.
- • Represent Heidi’s commitment to human-centered design by ensuring every component respects the cognitive and physical load of clinicians in high-stress environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • Built or owned a production design system in React, including component libraries, design tokens, and theming
- • Fluent in Figma as a systems tool, with expertise in variables, component properties, and design-code synchronization
- • Strong frontend engineering skills with TypeScript and modern React, with a defensible point of view on component API design
- • Demonstrated product design sense: ability to identify and fix UX issues beyond executing specs
- • Experience working within a monorepo and improving tooling for build speed, linting, or frontend CI
- • Shipped initiatives that directly improved developer velocity and treated developer experience as a core responsibility
