đź“‹ Description
- • As the Senior Director of Applied Data Science & AI at Equip Health Inc., you will be instrumental in shaping the future of virtual eating disorder treatment by leading cutting-edge advancements in data science and artificial intelligence. This pivotal leadership role sits at the critical intersection of clinical excellence and technological innovation, empowering you to drive significant improvements in patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- • You will spearhead two high-impact verticals: Applied Data Science and AI Transformation. Your primary focus will be on building intelligent data products that directly enhance the recovery journeys of our patients and optimize the complex internal operations that support our mission. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise in a leadership capacity, where you will be comfortable delegating tasks, mentoring a talented team, and diving deep into code when necessary to ensure the highest quality of work.
- • Your contributions will be the engine behind Equip's ability to provide world-class eating disorder care virtually, at scale. This includes a wide array of impactful projects, such as developing sophisticated agentic workflows to streamline and scale our operations, utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) to significantly reduce the administrative burden on our dedicated clinicians, and building advanced recommendation engines to personalize patient care pathways.
- • Furthermore, you will be responsible for forecasting demand to optimize our workforce allocation, ensuring we have the right resources in place at the right time. You will also develop predictive models to provide crucial clinical decision support, empowering our care teams with data-driven insights to deliver more effective and tailored treatments.
- • A key aspect of this role involves defining and implementing a strategic roadmap for AI and Machine Learning, in close partnership with the SVP of Data, Insights, & AI and other cross-functional leaders. You will collaborate as a peer with other data, product, and engineering leaders to ensure a cohesive and integrated data and technology strategy that aligns with Equip's overarching goals.
- • You will lead and nurture a world-class AI/ML organization, comprising talented data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and MLOps specialists. Owning the end-to-end delivery of AI products using modern, agile practices will be paramount, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- • A significant focus will be placed on defining best practices for Generative AI (GenAI) implementation. This includes establishing methodologies for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, optimizing prompt engineering techniques, and developing robust strategies for hallucination mitigation, all with a critical emphasis on maintaining clinical accuracy and patient safety.
- • You will architect AI-powered workflows, statistical models, and machine learning algorithms designed to assist our clinical team. These tools will support the delivery of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans, directly impacting patient care quality.
- • Driving organizational productivity through AI transformation is another core responsibility. You will identify and execute high-Return on Investment (ROI) AI automation opportunities across all departments, building the foundational elements necessary for successful AI implementation. This includes developing knowledge graphs, implementing RAG systems, curating prompt and skills libraries, managing MCP servers, and deploying intelligent agents.
- • Ensuring the safety and compliance of our AI systems is non-negotiable. You will partner closely with the compliance team to implement HIPAA/CMS-aligned governance frameworks, automated guardrails, and comprehensive model observability solutions.
- • You will champion effective change management strategies to ensure the successful adoption of AI initiatives and the realization of their full ROI. This involves clear communication, securing buy-in from both departmental and enterprise stakeholders, and implementing thoughtful change management processes.
- • A crucial part of your role will be executive influence, leading value realization efforts. This entails translating complex technical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) into compelling, business-driving narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including our clinical partners.
- • You will provide deep-stack technical mentorship to your team, offering guidance on model behavior, failure-mode analysis, and iterative improvement strategies based on production feedback and data drift monitoring.
- • This role is designed for a visionary leader who can translate complex data science and AI concepts into tangible business value, ultimately advancing Equip's mission to make effective eating disorder treatment accessible to all.
🎯 Requirements
- • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- • 10+ years of progressive experience in AI/ML engineering, with a minimum of 4 years in a senior leadership role managing multiple teams.
- • Deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), including RAG, grounding, and retrieval techniques, alongside a strong foundation in traditional ML (classification, regression, unsupervised learning) and statistics (causal inference, multilevel models).
- • Proven experience building and deploying high-stakes AI systems within regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, CMS) where reliability, safety, and compliance are paramount.
- • Hands-on experience with modern tech stacks including Python, Node.js, Typescript, LLMs, LangChain, n8n, vector databases, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and AWS services, with a commitment to enforcing extensible, production-ready code.
- • Exceptional ability to lead discussions, align cross-functional teams, and clearly articulate the strategic value and 'why' behind AI investments to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy (3-5 weeks recommended annually) plus 11 paid company holidays.
- • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance plans.
- • Equip covers a significant portion of health benefits premiums for both employees and their families.
- • Company-paid reproductive and family care benefit through Maven for all employees.
- • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering company-paid resources for mental health, legal services, financial support, and more.
- • Monthly $50 stipend for home internet expenses, directly added to employee paychecks.
