• • Join Tide, a rapidly growing fintech company revolutionizing small business banking, as a Senior Engineer, Backend. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and running scalable, event-driven microservices that form the backbone of our global platform.
• • Contribute to an architecture comprising over 200 microservices, owned by more than 40 autonomous engineering teams. This role offers the unique opportunity to take full ownership of the services your team develops, embodying the 'you build it, you run it' philosophy.
• • Leverage modern technologies including Java 17, Spring Boot, and JOOQ to craft robust backend services. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of Tide's offerings to over 1.8 million members worldwide.
• • Design and implement RESTful APIs, treating them as products in their own right, crucial for internal integrations and potentially external partners in the Open Banking landscape.
• • Integrate event-driven patterns using AWS SNS, SQS, and Kafka to ensure seamless communication and data flow between microservices, enhancing system resilience and scalability.
• • Utilize PostgreSQL via Aurora as the primary datastore, demonstrating proficiency in managing and querying relational databases within a cloud-native environment.
• • Participate in a high-velocity deployment cycle, pushing code to production multiple times a day. This is facilitated by mature CI/CD pipelines powered by GitHub and GitHub Actions, supported by comprehensive JUnit and Pact testing. New engineers are encouraged to deploy to production within their first two weeks, showcasing our commitment to rapid iteration and learning.
• • Embrace GitOps principles using ArgoCD, working alongside our Cloud team who manage the underlying platform infrastructure with Docker, Terraform, and EKS/Kubernetes.
• • Utilize DataDog extensively for service monitoring, performance analysis, and proactive issue resolution, ensuring the health and stability of our production systems.
• • Collaborate closely with Product Owners to translate user needs, business opportunities, and regulatory requirements into well-engineered, scalable, and secure software solutions.
• • Engage in technical discussions and decision-making processes that shape the future of Tide's Global One Platform, influencing engineering practices across multiple teams.
• • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement, actively participating in Communities of Practice to share knowledge and best practices across different engineering domains.
• • Develop and maintain high-quality, well-tested, and documented code, ensuring seamless integration with various third-party providers and partners, a critical aspect of the fintech industry.
• • Play a key role in scaling our services globally, addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by rapid international expansion.
• • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
• • Proactively identify and address technical debt, ensuring the long-term maintainability and evolution of our platform.
• • Contribute to architectural discussions, helping to define standards and best practices for microservice development at Tide.
